The Temple Gate hotel rests on the site of a nineteenth-century Convent of Mercy with a fascinating and eventful history. Prior to its conversion to a convent, the original house was the property of Charles O'Connell, cousin of Daniel O'Connell. Discreetly situated just off the town centre, a short walk through the warm glow of the Victorian lamps in the cobble-stoned courtyard leads our guests to the heart of the historical and vibrant town of Ennis. With over thirty years experience in the hotel business, John Madden, the proprietor of the hotel, along with Ennis Developers had a vision to develop this historic site to a high quality hotel while retaining the Gothic theme. Today the Temple Gate town house hotel is truly a gem. John together with his son Paul and a highly experienced and professional team focus on the pursuit of excellence in all areas. The hotel restaurant 'Legends' is an AA Rosette award winning restaurant. This accolade, achieved for 11 consecutive years, is awarded for excellence and is a true endorsement of the quality of our food and service.
Our head chef and his creative team ensure that each meal is an exceptional culinary experience using only the finest of produce from the local area. The relaxed atmosphere with comfortable sophistication lends itself to fine dining or a casual supper.
Our custom designed traditional themed pub is 'Preachers', and has an inviting and friendly atmosphere, which both guests and locals enjoy. Regular traditional Irish music sessions ensure its' continued popularity. An acclaimed bar food menu is served throughout the day.

Directions

Take n18 from Shannon/ Limerick or Galway to Ennis. In Ennis follow the signs for the Ennis tourist office. We are located on the Tulla Road, next to the Tourist Information Centre.
