Nestled in a peaceful rural location, and surrounded by beautiful gardens, this charming 17th century country house is a haven of peace and tranquillity, just one mile away from Bowness and Windermere.

Low House is very close to Lake Windermere and right in the heart of the Lake District, making it the perfect base for walkers. For those who don’t want to walk, you can enjoy: boat trips on Lake Windermere and the surrounding lakes; Blackwell, the arts and crafts house which hosts various exhibitions; and the surrounding villages with a wealth of restaurants and shops.

In the evenings you can relax and unwind in the comfort of one of the 2 sitting rooms, both complete with open log fires in the winter, or enjoy the peaceful garden in the summer.

Low House only serves organic or locally sourced produce, which can range from toast and freshly squeezed orange juice to a hearty full English breakfast to set you up for a day on the hills. Alternatively, if you would rather enjoy a lazy morning in bed, a Mediterranean breakfast can be served in your room on request.

Area Information

The Lake District became a National Park in 1951 and is the biggest in England and Wales. It has some of the most beautiful walks for all abilities, as well as museums, galleries, exhibitions, lake steamers, sports and shows, restaurants and tourist attractions of all descriptions. Another big attraction after the variety of its natural beauty is access; you are free to roam everywhere. Once you are above the field line, the scenery is all yours.

Directions

By Car:
-Take the M6.
- Exit at junction 36.
- Follow the dual carriageway until you reach the roundabout just outside Kendal, at this roundabout, take the first turn right towards (B5284) Crook.
- Follow this road for approximately 8 miles.
- On passing Windermere Golf Club on your right-hand side, take the next turn left (signposted Heathwaite); they hotel is further down on the right-hand side.
