"Excellent in every respect." (108033442)
quiet, well furnished and characterful room, very efficient shower, good breakfast, excellent location
minor point - bedside lamp not working; also car park to rear not well signposted and even the hotel itself could do with a more prominent sign for those coming from the east along London Road.

"We enjoyed our stay, we needed somewhere where we would be welcome for a leisure weekend break and the hotel provided this for us." (108064315)
Even though this hotel is marked as a 2 star the reception we got and facilities were more of a 3 star and the staff were only too pleased to help and cater for you.
I didn't find any bad points on our stay.

"Overall a very enjoyable stay." (97020233)
Excellent breakfast service / food. Helpful and friendly staff. Plentiful supply of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Good cleaning service.
Bedside light bulb missing. Reported on arrival but not replaced. Booked a Superior room, but no way of knowing what we got for the extra cost.

"Overall, I enjoyed my stay in Gloucester at this hotel. I had a superior double, the only room available at the time, which I think was a little overpriced (ten pounds or so). However, it was nice to get a slight discount (five pounds/night) for being a single traveller in the double room. I have not been in any other hotels in the area, but for a longer stay, I would likely have stayed elsewhere. " (97967314)
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and they were flexible on the full English for vegetarians. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The hotel was easy to find. There were some toiletries and a water cooker with tea, coffee, and biscuits/cookies provided. The room and bed were of a decent size for England.
The hotel room was a bit worn down, bits of carpet missing and cracks in the wall or torn off wallpaper. The bathroom is small, and the only light was a on pull string which I couldn't reach without standing on something. The location is further from the center of town (I was there for an event at the Guildhall) than advertised; it is a good ten minute walk, not five, and with luggage that can make a difference. Screens in the windows would have been nice, as the housekeeping leaves them open; I had various flying insects in my room each night when I returned.

"The accommodation description given on the website was accurate, as were the directions to find the hotel. The general appearance of the hotel was good which is encouraging when one arrives. The hotel is well situated within a comfortable walking distance of the city centre facilities. Whilst there are pubs and restaurants in close proximity to the hotel we did not use them during our short stay, preferring to visit those in the city centre. We stayed in Gloucester over the weekend and there were no problems in the evenings often associated with city centres. It is a good idea to book restaurant seats in advance on Friday and Saturday evenings as they become full from quite early in the evening." (97159913)
Pleasant room, friendly helpful staff, good position in city, adequate free parking.
Faulty unusable drawer in wardrobe area. In-room TV reception very poor (We were informed that this was due to the recent construction of aerials on the nearby hospital and that the hotel were trying to remedy the problem)

"Achieved what I wanted at a reasonable price (even with the upgrade to the superior room)." (97765300)
Good overall; ability to park was a plus point. Room was nicely decorated.
Nothing apart from the rough road to the parking area. It is also a good few minutes walk from the centre of Gloucester.

"Perfectly fine and an excellent value for under 50 pounds single." (97679804)
A very quiet room with extremely fast and well-connected wireless internet; an ample and tasty full English breakfast; an easy walk to Gloucester centre.
Nothing bad of note - a low ceiling in a top floor room (which also meant a climb of several flights); good TV reception but limited choice of channels.

A lovely place to stop after a day's driving. We were 'upgraded' as the room we paid for was not available.

"The hotel was OK for the price. Have complained about lack of Fairtrade tea and coffee. Hot water not quite hot enough. Staff kind and polite." (97019699)
The room was warm during a cold snap. The bed was comfy and the staff were polite.
The water in the shower did not quite get hot enough, although it was just about adequate. The TV was badly adjusted, showing ridiculous colours (e.g. green newsreaders). The tea and coffee in the room was not a Fairtrade brand.

I liked the large, double bed and plenty of wardrobe space. Good quality breakfast with proper bacon and sausages. Nice to be able to open the window and control the radiator. Off road parking is handy, although limited.
Horrid decor, very retro but not in a good way. Tiny shower cubicle and cramped bathroom. No tissues, shower gel or lotion.

"Friendly staff; Good Decor; Reasonable breakfast - although needed to have the coffee more readily available (possibly leave jug on side with juices?) Not impressed with the superior room as the big bed was in fact 2 singles pushed together! No hand towel by sink in bathroom - just 2 towels supplied each. Shower not very powerful again with a superior room would have expected a little better. Would stay there again as very handy for town and got a car park(although not the easiest to find - its down a private road behind the hotel)." (97501116)
Location - very close to city centre.
Bed was 2 singles pushed together. Shower was disappointing.

"The instructions to access the hotel were very good and I didn't get lost, and there was sufficient parking behind the building. We were told the walk to the cathedral was 5 minutes when in fact it took a good 15, which was fine, but it would have been better to have said the actual walking time. The hotel was within easy reach of the cathedral where we spent much of the weekend. For a stay of one night, the hotel was fair. I appreciate that the building is old so upkeep is a challlenge. The staff (reception and waiting) were pleasant and friendly." (97328790)
The bed was comfortable and the bedroom layout pleasing. The dining room was attractively decorated and the breakfast food sufficient and tasty. The hotel was within easy reach of the cathedral where we spent much of the weekend.
The bedroom needed redecoration, as did parts of the common areas, and the bathroom was very small.

"An unpretentious hotel with a relaxed atmosphere. Prices are reasonable (given that an excellent cooked breakfast is included) and I would stay here again." (97238764)
Friendly staff, excellent location if visiting patient in nearby hospital (my reason for staying) and about a 15 minute walk to town centre (shops, etc). Great cooked breakfast and attentive service, free use of internet. Reasonable value for money. Some of the bedroom equipment could do with updating but it all worked perfectly well. Very little noise: I slept well.
Room was rather dark and decoration very old-fashioned and a bit tired. The ensuite bathroom was the smallest I have ever encountered (although the room itself was quite spacious).

The staff were all exceptionally helpful and friendly. Would have no hesitation in recommending and staying there again." (99715731)
freshly decorated, good bed. Lots of hot water. Helpful & friendly staff.
No face cloths, the toiletries felt cheap and nasty. Room 12 could do with better lampshades to allow more light in the room.

"A good-value standard hotel for a small city" (108098244)
I found the room attractive and very comfortable. Drinks and biscuits tray was welcome. The bathroom, although clean, was a bit out-dated. Breakfast (cooked) was good and promptly served. Just outside the main city centre and therefore relatively quiet. I would certainly stay again if the opportunity arose.
Nothing worthy of comment.
