"Good location and enjoyed our weekend. The hotel could do with a lick of paint, but would stay here again. " (97057952)
Food in restaurant was good. Hotel location was great.
Leisure club pool closed due to rain!! Foreign staff on reception. Shower in room a Health Hazard. Very Very HOT. When turned temperature down to a suitable heat, the water supply turned into a trickle.Picture misleading as gardens shown in picture do not belong to hotel.

"The room was ok, nothing special. The staff were pleasant. The wedding incident makes me less likely to reuse the hotel though its proximity is good and the price is reasonable." (97619237)
The hotel was close to the event I was attending and the room was reasonably quiet during normal circumstances.
There was a wedding one night which meant loud music until 1am and then drunken singing as people went back to their rooms. Breakfast wasn't until 8am on the weekend which made it difficult for people attending events at 9am.

"Overall a very nice hotel with good level of service from staff. Nothing is too much trouble." (99677989)
Excellent set menu with a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 deserts! I've never been disappointed with the quality and presentation of the food every time I have stayed here.
Hotel is in need of a bit of TLC as it's looking a bit tired in places.

"Good - despite the obvious lack of investment to bring the hotel up to today's premium standards, the staff, food, service and the accommodation were excellent. I would certainly stay here again if I managed to get such a good deal!" (97324392)
Very good service, food was excellent, overall value was excellent, excellent proximity to exhibition (over the road)
Decor and general maintenance of entire hotel was poor - cracked walls, very old furnishings/fittings etc.

Breakfast was very good
Evening meal not as good as the breakfast, meat was tough.

Back entrance of hotel from car park gave very bad impression. Back entrance from car park very shabby. Poster at reception advertising'Umbrella's for rent for a deposit of £5'gave bad impression.

Beds were very comfortable. Television.
Bahroom badly in need of repair (rotting bathsides, wallpaper peeling off, handbasin taps wobbly and shower unit needed servicing) Room stuffy and overheated, despite turning down the heating and opening the windows.

Laundry service very poor, i was told if i handed my laundry in by 8:30am then itwould be returned the same day my laundry did not get washed because they came at 8:00am to collect the laundry hence mine was missed. You may wish to look at the way the Germans run their hotels it makes ours look substandard

"Lovely City and Hotel" (97298144)
Beautiful facility, well maintain with courtesious and efficient staff.
For three (3) days in your hotel I was not able to make a telephone call due to phones not working. I expressed this to the manager on two (2) occasions without any effect. This is a serious handicap to the business traveler. Being from the US my mobile phone was not with me. I feel some compensation for the inconvenience should be forthcoming

The courtesy of the staff and the meals in content and presentation were excellent
The hotel was very sad. the fixtures and fittings were not only pst their best but looked like the originals from the building of the hotel. The linen was excellent in cleanliness and the general arrangement of the room was adequate but furnishings were tattered and worn, lifts were smelly and not very clean and paintwork was chipped and worn away as was the woodwork itself. Windows were old and mildewed.

"General state of hotel very poor and badly in need of updating/redecoration. Bathroom especially required updating and shower installed that actually gave hot water and more than a dribble! Felt description of spa to be misleading with a poky basement room very run down and not worthy of the title SPA. Good points - food served was excellent and staff were very welcoming. Sad to see beautiful interior badly neglected especially as hotel is in prime position overlooking the baths and gardens." (97467477)

"In general had an enjoyable stay at this hotel central location handy for exploring local area on foot and only a short walk to train station. Public rooms in hotel pleasant and clean however single rooms we stayed in were in need of decorating, wallpaper torn and marked, tiles broken in bathroom etc. Good value for money with D B&B package" (97364588)
Friendly staff and good food and uses of leasuire facilities
decorative condition of hotel rooms and corridors gives very poor first impression, no shower cap, shampoo or conditioner in rooms could be purchased from reception normally expect these to be provided free of charge in a 3 star hotel

"Overall we enjoyed our stay and the hotel was in the perfect location to look round Harrogate. Once you parked your car you did not need to use it again! The breakfast was nice with lots to offer, however the evening meal seemed quite expensive so we ventured into harrogate where there was lots of food places to choose from. We would come to this hotel again!!" (97441593)
The hotel felt very cosy and welcoming, even though it was quite big there was lots of space where you could relax.
The hotel could do with a refurbsihment as the rooms seemed quite old but at the same time they did their job and you had every thing you needed.

"If you are stopping just one or two nights than it really is nice hotel if only the rooms could be re decorated, the cleanliness is excellent, the staff very helpful and the food excellent, it really is such a shame about the room, having said that i would stay at the hotel again even in the state that it is in and i would recommend it." (97611752)
The location could not be faulted, the meals were superb and the service excellent, for the late deal price we paid it was very good, however you need to be aware the rooms really are tired and in the bathroom there was no curtains or blinds, if we were staying longer than one night we would have asked to change rooms!
The room was a very good size but was very very tired, I think it is long overdue a refit, the paper was peeling of the walls, the bathroom had no blind, the radiator was falling of the wall, I could go on, however if you are only stopping one night and can get a late deal AND you dont mind the decor then it really is a lovely hotel to stay in,

"It was lovely to stay in a tradtional hotel that has not been over modernised. Our only concerns were when we came in the back entrance from the car park. It all needs a bit of painting and general up lift. It took us a little time to realise that the rest of the hotel was comfortable and of a higher standard than this entrance first indicated. We enjoyed our stay in this traditional hotel and will come again. The food was very good, and the staff of a good standard." (97407684)
