A nice Hotel with good staff in ideal location

    Special offers should include breakfast.

Staff were very welcoming and eager to please. When requested, staff were quick to rectify any problem including relocating us when we discovered that contrary to our original booking, we had been given a Smoker's Room. Bar staff were particularly good when we brought our young grandchild in for a light lunch which he did appreciate!

A guest staying in the adjacent room used his mobile telephone after midnight for several long 'heated' business calls which kept us awake and rendered embarrassment on our part just having to overhear him. Whilst we appreciate some guests may require to phone contacts abroad perhaps they could be encouraged to do this quietly or in another part of the hotel. Room Service staff were most obliging but the breakfast and dinner trays never had the correct number of everything be it tea plates; cutlery; beverages. It would appear that many staff members do not have a reasonable command of English to enable them to understand guest responses to their questions. We did not appreciate having to make our way through wedding guests standing smoking at and blocking the front door on our return to the hotel in late aftenoon and evening. This rather lowered the 'tone' of the hotel. Might guests be encouraged to smoke in a designated place outside the building leaving the front entrance clear for other non-smoking guests?

"we took avantage of your easter offer and had a superier room but found it not such good deal over the standard double room we normaly have. having said all that its a great place to stay and the ray n dor reaturante is 1st class. as an aviator i find the atmostphere of the hotel, which is steep in aviation history unbeatable. the staff are as allways helpfull and cant do enough for you, long may it continue," (97023775)

    everything was satisfactory

we thought the accomodation would have been larger as this time we had a superier room.

"Why employ a receptionist that finds it difficult to converse in English. I was completly misdirected to the wrong building carrying all my bags. Disturbed when working in my room, and early mornings due to the lack of a privacy notice to hang on the door handle." (97745204)

    Adequate for the purpose

Lack of a privacy notice to hang on the door to prevent disturbance when working.

The service was first class whenever we had contact with any staff, the room was well equipped and very comfortable, and the hotel had a lovely feel to it - the pictures and displays of Croydon Airport of the past gave added interest - it was a unique experience.

The room service for food took over an hour, and the food was not hot enough. However, this was late in an evening when there were several christmas functions happening simultaneously, and this was the only fault in an otherwise faultless customer experience.

"Towels were only provided for 1 person (in spite of there being 2 guests) - it took 1 hour to get another towel delivered before breakfast on our first morning! Dinner for 4 took 90 minutes to arrive from ordering (the bar person forgot to enter it into the system!) It was an uphill struggle to get staff to respond to our requests. The receptionists were very hard to understand due to their lack of fluency in English and in the end, we gave up. There were no newspapers on either of the mornings of our stay, in spite of it being stated that this was included in the price of the room. We won't be returning to the Aerodrome in Croydon I am afraid." (97677519)

Quiet, clean room with comfortable bed.

Lack of towels, lack of newspapers.

"The staff were very helpful although service was at times slow. I dont believe this was the staff's fault though. Overall lovely stay." (97725837)

Beautiful building, lovely that the old features have not been knocked down

A bit cramped and not enough electricity sockets.

good staff, the shuttle bus to/from the train station

height of the shower... not adequate for tall ones!, bed definitely too soft...

"Generally good value and close to M25 - Ongoing renovations have atleast made the hotel more attractive than the last time and getting better. The staff worked tirelessly to make it work for us as a family, even with two wedding and 400 people We will come back." (99472065)

Close to my family and friends - Other hotels were not so tollerant in the online booking system - Car parking was close by and under 24 hour surveliance.

The bar is so tiny - but the staff were overworked and did every thing they could to make it pleasant

"I have stayed at the hotel before and used the gym across the road. Unfortunately the gym was closed for refurbishment when i stayed this time - I was not aware of this when i made the booking." (97801592)

The room was lovely -clean, spacious and modern. As a lone business traveller I found the facilities to be more than adequate, parking right outside the hotel is a huge advantage as is the restaurant on site. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend the hotel to colleagues.

    Nothing

Main hotel areas very clean, well decorated. Well stocked bar, good restaurant facilities.

Room - very very hot, situated beside air conditioning units - noisy.

Facilities will be excellent when they have finished the building work.

No air conditioning in the rooms. No member of staff has learnt the art of smiling!!

from Nr dover kent , GB  on  July 11, 2007

"We would not stay at your hotel again, as it was too noisy. The reason for staying at a hotel for one night is because we live in Kent whereas out children live in London and so that we can see them all at once it means a lot of driivng across London, but if we stay at a hotel for one night it breaks the driving into two days instead of one which helps me, as I am the only driver in out family, my husband does not drive anymore. I must have a good nights sleep, and I did not get any sleep at your hotel. So willnot be staying at your hotel again." (97795108)

It was comfortable. We usually stay at the Selsdon Hotel, because its much cheaper, but it was fully booked.

We didnt get much sleep becauwse of the party that was going on outsie and the police sirens kept me awake. All in all it was not a very successful nights stay and was I tired the nect day and I had a lot of drving to do the next day so I was not a very hppy bunny

"The Aerodrame Hotel was originally part of Croydon Airport, the first commercial airport in the UK and superseded by Heathrow. There is a lot of interesting history to the hotel which adds to the atmosphere. recent work has added the benefit of a lift, which was a major issue previously. Ongoing refurbishment work is presenting a problem in parts of the hotel. The room we stayed in was small, and not really suitable for two people, which made it very difficult, with two suitcases, and the need to move the bedside table to access the wardrobe, as it obstructed the door. With a little more TLC this could be a great hotel, in a good location for London." (99504905)

Good atmosphere to hotel. Good breakfast. Great that it is now fully non smoking!

Room was very small and not well configured for two people (room 12). No air conditioning to room.

The History of Aerodrome Hotel Croydon is fasinating, I wish I would have had some more time to explore around.

The rooms on the road side of the Hotel, are noisy at night, in the summer, when you need the window open to keep the room cool.

"Overall I enjoyed my 10 day stay, the room was adequate however I wish I had asked to be moved as I would have liked a bit more light and be able to open my window without the noise and heat from the heat exchangers outside my window. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the breakfast was good (and included in the price). The restaurants were excellent, good food and service. The internet connection was good, however there was no indication on the web site that you had to pay for it and what the price was." (99901588)

The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were efficient and friendly. The breakfast and restaurants were very good. The gym across the road was also good.

The room was a little on the small side, it was very warm and stuffy as there was a large heat exchanger just outside my window that was also noisy so I could not open the window. It was also quite dark as there was not a lot of natural light.

"The hotel is pleasant hotel and great for a couple of nights. The staff are very friendly and a real asset to hotel. The breakfast is good with lots of opitions. Although we ate in the restaurant in one night and I chose my main course which the waitress said wasn't available, so I chose another which also wasn't available and so I chose again and again it wasn't available..unbelievable, either I'm very unlucky or the menu needs updating..!!!??? Also a strange point but the towels smelt like they had been washed with the chef's white which really off putting when you just had a shower or washed your face...I think you can imagime the smell of stale food is the last thing you want.." (99181234)

The hotel was good, it was a shame you couldn't use more of the period features to give the hotel a more individual feel rather than an improved travelodge.

The position was poor as the room was opposite the Housekeeper office/store and so I was woken very early every morning

Comfortable beds, large television, lovely buffet style breakfast.

Noisy guests and possibly hotel staff late on the Saturday night. It sounded like a guest had lost or damaged his key and the member of staff dealing with him didn't mind talking loud enough to disturb the whole corridor. Also, when we returned to the hotel on the Saturday night there was nowhere for us to park due to the large number of guests attending functions in the hotel.Couldn't there be a car park area for hotel guests only?

"I have stayed in this hotel before and new what to expect, hence my decision to stay there this time. The staff are always courteous and helpful. The rabbit warren to get through to my room (73 at the back) is not impressive, but the room is good and the refurb is not complete. In general I would (do) recommend this hotel to others over and above the likes of Travelinn etc. Shower didn't work so had to have a bath, but this was one out of three otherwise problem free stays." (99608907)

Overall good value for money. Reasonable hotel at same price as a Travelinn (when all costs included). Large bed. Good price for room service and speedy. Internet connectivity. Good breakfast. Bottled water in the room. Reasonable choice of TV programs on LCD widescreen TV.

Nice room , but went through a maze to get there. Would like to pay for Internet access on my credit card, not on the room. No lift.
