    "Quite good" (107143974)

    Bedroom was comfortable.

At breakfast once seated we had to ask for a tea and coffee twice before receiving this half an hour later. Not enough waiting staff on especially as our stay was during August Bank Holiday weekend and the hotel appeared to be full.

"Very good for our needs would stay again." (108029664)

Hotel rooms that our party were allocated were very impressive, in need of a little attention but the size of the rooms was unbelievable.

It did not effect us directly but the language barrier between the foreign restaurant staff and more elderly visitors was a definite problem.

Character hotel, very good breakfast, responsiveness of staff to problems, decoration in room was good, very good location

No heating in room until convector heater provided, not a lot of light, cramped ensuite bathroom, public areas need refreshing, furniture in room was worn

    staff nice on arrival,breakfast good,

finshed breakfast before we even got a pot of tea after asking 3 times we finaly got a pot, felt the rooms were out dated what we stayed in, could do with up dateing also the net in the bath room had mould on it,and the towel rail wasnt very clean as there was something stuck on the bar!!!!!! so that was off putting, other than that, overall room was clean

"We like these older type hotel and very much enjoyed our stay at The Prince of Wales." (107246066)

The female restaurant staff were very good. The Breakfast buffet was very good in choice and quality

The lift that would sometimes only take 3 persons due to low load capacity. A porter who was called to reception to put my bag in in storage until we could check in and then wandered off, expecting me to follow with my bag. The same porter later in the day was waiting at the lift with a suitcase to take to a room. The lift arrived, the three of us entered and then the porter announced that there was too much weight, but did not volunteer to get out. Therefore we the Guests exited and left him and the suitcase to use the lift first.

"mixed some good and bad points" (107239430)

    good location

corridors leading to room rather dark and need updating.not enough staff which resulted tables in the bar and dining room not being cleared. We had to wait over 20 minutes to go in for breakfast yet there were only six tables in use the rest were full of dishes. The selection of food was limited as most things needed replenishing which delayed us further

  • 9/10 Ivan ( Mature couple)

"Overall the hotel and the staff were very good, but the young lady who booked my wife and i in was quiet short with us over one or two issues that we enquired about, because we are both old does not mean we are demented, i do assure you both my wife and i have all our faculties intact, but after saying all of this, we stayed at your hotel last year, and we will be booking again later this year, and bringing two friends with us, this must say alot of good about your hotel." (97536154)

The central postion of the hotel, the buffet breakfast, and room 201 was excellent

Having to pay aparking fee, the bar closing at 10-30 while there was about 20 residents still there

Parking was very inadequate, the room was next to the lift which kept us awake for most of the night, we should have been notified that the room was next to the lift, there were no clean tables at breakfast we had to sit at a table full of dirty pots and no-one asked us if we would like tea or coffee

A large clean room, with adequate facilities for a weekend break. Friendly Staff, and a good breakfast. Good value for money. The hotel is in an excellent position for the town and sea front.

The Hotel was magnificent in its heyday, but is now a little tired. The beds werent too comfortable and the small window wouldnt open very wide.

I like the size of the room and the large bathroom it was excellent. Very clean. Beds very comfortable. Lovely dining area. Food excellent. Service excellent.

We were unable to turn the heating up. The weather outside was very cold and snowing so therefore the inside temperature had dropped.

Excellent quality hotel with friendly, helpful staff.

Mix up over the room combined with a busy weekend at the hotel meant that the romantic night away we planned was spent in a twin room instead of a double.

The bar staff and stocking requires complete overhaul (lots of lost sales etc). Some of the waiting staff could do with some training but kitchen staff & evening food good. The car parking requires a rethink with a tickt system linked to No of residents and the No of vehicles with residents having priority." (97433838)

    Space

although we are very active, we noticed a lot of older people staying, probably on the coach trips etc, and the lifts were not in use, which is very bad for older people

"the hotel in main is old and dated but as this adds to the charm of the place we didn't have any complaints we will definatly be using this hotel again the staff were friendly and polite and very helpfull. the only problem was the tv which they said had sky ours didn't we didn't bother complaing as we were only there for the weekend and didn't intend to spent much time in the room anyway." (97143473)

our room was massive loads of space and storage plenty of hot water and the cleaners were always busy the breakfast was really good especially if you have a large appetite, i haven't but as i am a fussy eater it was nice to be able to pick what i wanted from the buffet style breakfast, the bar did shut at 10.45 which i thought unusual for a hotel but that was not a problem as there are plenty of other places to go. the hotel itself is a little dated but i think that added to the charm i would deffinatly go back.

the heated towel rail didn't work
