"If you're the 'cold-blooded' type, I'd recommend this place. To be fair, this was about the cheapest room I could find and I got my money's worth. " (107160548)
Room clean & tidy, reasonably spacious, facilities basic but adequate and fully functioning. Pleasant staff. Early (non-cooked) breakfast delivered to room at 06.15 on the dot, as requested. Masses of parking space around building.
Too warm! Radiators on all the time and valves seized so could not be turned off, or even down. Opening window didn't help much. Couldn't sleep well in stuffy atmosphere.

"We enjoyed our stay and slept well. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was courteously served and again - very good value." (107203519)
Conveniently situated near M6, very good value for money. Staff helpful and friendly.
On the second visit, a week after the first, the hotel was very busy and it was difficult to 'self-serve' at the breakfast buffet but no other quibbles.

"This "place" cannot really be classed as a hotel. It reminded me of Cuba, because of the old, tired, dated and filthy conditions. Having travelled the world I am more than capable of slumming it, and for £25 it was a shocker!" (107160141)
Staff genuinely felt sorry for me, given the state of the rooms. Up graded me to a slightly bigger but still dirty old room in the end - this was the third room!and can not be classed as an upgrade, just a bigger room. At least it was quiet enough to sleep!
dirty carpets needed cleaning (could see toenails) sheets were covered in paint, in the other they were so thin they had a hole in it, they were dirty and smelt, had clearly been slept in and not changed. the pillows smelt and had hair on them. The duvet cover had an old stained cover on it and had no sheet between you and it, and also handn't been changed for some time, so each person using it would have it touching them! Cup had clearly visible cracks in it, bath towels were so old, worn, tatty and stained I would only use it for the dog. Curtains barely met, were uneven and very old.

"Comfortable enough, good value for money for those on a tight budget." (107153294)
Nice to have a hairdryer and heater for bathroom. TV in good working order and good variety of channels. Plenty of storage. Shower remained good temperature. Location brilliant!
Decor and colour scheme all needs updating. Need new towels. Needed to use extra blanket as bed-linen wasn't thick enough.

"For the price the stay at the hotel was ok. Not to be recommended for a weekend break or a special occasion. Would only stay there again if the room was at the back." (107136731)
Food was good, room cleaned to a good standard.
Room did not keep the traffic noise out. No Bar after 2 days Furnishing needs throwing away - well past there sell by date.

"A hotel that requires a massive "makeover" which would be almost impossible justify or recover. Expect to see clouds of brick dust rising ere long " (97799495)
Low cost, close to where we needed to be.
Only 2 members of staff working for hotel, others not worth the space. Room was badly smoke stained, the bathroom, in particular, had a streaked ceiling where attempts had been made to remove the cigarette tar. The stench of cigarettes initially caused retching Overall, a shabby hotel where most of the staff would be happier if their lives were not interrupted by residents. We didn't dare attempt the food.

"I have stayed in the Norfolk many times before and know that in the back of the hotel the rooms are of a much better quality. However, the rooms in the front are very basic, antiquated, and very noisy, so in future I would always request a room at the rear." (97889114)
Location, bar, comfortable bed, nice breakfast.
Heating on full blast for the entire stay, so the room was too hot. There was an awful smell in the room. The toilet flush didn't work correctly. Had to keep the window open the whole time, so the room was very noisy due to the busy road outside. Room was very small and looked quite dirty in places.

"Overall a good pleasant hotel catering for a range travelers well situated for Birmingham city centre." (97811707)
The room was a good size for a single, with a dressing table/desk big enough to fit a laptop and keyboard on. A comfortable chair and small table for viewing tv and the single bed was of an adequate size and comfort for a good nights sleep
the colour scheam was a bit dark for me but as it was a smoking room I could understand it. Other than the premier rooms the internet is only available in the public areas, and you have to pay for it.

"Had I know what a poor state of repair the hotel was in before booking, I would not have come. I will make a point of never staying in this hotel again unless it has been completely refurbished. I cannot recommend any aspect of this hotel at all. Please spend some money on the hotel, it is in a deadful condition." (97277653)
The Norfolk Hotel is tired and in need of complete modernisation. The room decoration was terrible, the towels and bed linen had holes in and were worn out. The double glazing is completely inadequate which made sleeping very hard due to the incessant road noise outside (the room was first floor at the front of the hotel). The TV worked but only just, poor picture and poor sound quality. The ensuite fittings were falling off the wall, the shower hose was in a poor state and the shower head bracket did not hold the shower properly. All in all a horrible room.

"When pulling up into the carpark I was a little put off by the outside appearance of the hotel compared to some of the others we passed along the Hagley Road. It looked a little shabby and run down but on entering was pleasantly surprised once inside. The room had everything you needed t.v coffee/tea making facilities and was clean. Very convenient for our trip to the NIA and only a short taxi drive away from the main hustle and bustle of the city centre. Not sure if I would stay again although good value for your money. You pay your money you make your choice so if you are on a budjet this is probably one of the cheaper options so give it a try." (97306118)
In easy distance of the NIA by short taxi journey. Relatively close to all ameneties but far enough away not to be disturbed.
The bed was very uncomfortable in need of a new mattress. Hotel looks a little tired in places and in need of some refurbishment. Overall was good value for money.

The breakfast was of good quality and kept hot.
That the doors and walls were thin, with lots of noise in the corridors late at night. And outrageously, someone knocked on every door at 8.20 in the morning to wake guests up. We were not asked if we wanted a wake-up call (which we didn't) and I found this intrusive and rude.

"The general decor of the hotel was poor and is in desperate need of refurbishment. I booked a double room and requested non smoking, a question which was again asked at check in. The room we were given had clearly been a smoking room and smelled terrible. The bed sheets and pillow cases had cigarette burns in them and should have been thrown away. The whole room made myself and my husband feel grubby, for all it had been cleaned - it was more the general feel and poor decor of the room and i didn't want to walk on the carpets in bare feet. The shower was too small that my husband was unable to get in it and the description of the room stated that our room was to have a bath and overhead shower but didn't. I am glad we only stayed the one night and I would not stay there again until a lot of money had been spent on refurbishment." (97300880)

"I have stayed here several times before so I know it is not 'luxury' standard and that is no doubt reflected in the price, but I did feel that the hotel has been better on previous occasions. Although I was staying for reasons of work the cost of accommodation was not being met by my employer so for reasons of cost I would stay here again, but otherwise not." (97128505)
Price, food, convenient location
Staff rather offhand, towels in bedroom so old and frayed, so-called filter coffee after dinner (not included) had considerably less taste than the free instant sachets in the room. Also breakfast things not all out by the advertised starting time for breakfast (7am).

"All we expected is that the hotel supplied a package that equalled the description on the internet. Our general view of the hotel was: A couldn't care less attitude from the reception staff.Chamber maids were ignorant. There was a lack of supervision from all staff in guiding guests to their correct rooms, as we had people knocking on our door at differant times of the night. We found this very annoying." (97772828)
Suitable location for travelling into city centre by public transport.
The overall cleanliness of our room was not upto our standards.Bed linen and towels were very grubby, and gave us a very uncomfortable feeling throughout our stay.

"Just a little more knowledge of the room. As it was a single superior felt it was below the standard in size and the washing facilities. However the staff were friendly, helpful and very pleasant. The overall cost of the weekend was exceptional. To have both breakfast and evening meal included was very good." (97686957)
All I required was available.
For a special single - a little small. Also find the standard of cleanliness in the shower below standard the the towels provided though clean very shabby and small.

"Would not choose to stay there aqain. First room of extremely poor quality, steel framed beds on laminate floor, room was also above the bar." (107199584)
When I asked for a change of room, there were no porblems, 2nd roomaround the back of the hotel was lovely, quiet and if i had had that room from the outset it would have been much better experience.
My first room was above the bar, on the main road and extremely noisy. The bar window was smashed just after I arrived, police arrived as I was having dinner and removed customers form the bar, fellow guests were extremely noisy til 11pm and again at 0245! Shower did not work in the that room. Extremely poor experience first night.
