    "priced at high end of reasonable but pleasant, well organised and comfortable - given reservations above." (97838733)

    Attractive "superior room" with bed up on mezzanine. Good sitting area below, flar screen tv, couch and 2 easy chairs. Tiny "balcony" on each level, looking over garden. First rate breakfasts, well cooked. and well presented.

    Insufficient clothes storage for a longer stay. Down steep stairs to bathroom - not so good at night. No mirror in "bedroom" area and no drawers at all up. there.

    Clean and pleasant location - reasonable food but very limited choice

    No breakfast in the morning before 8pm. We had to leave every morning with no breakfast. Overpriced

    The gravel driveway was a bit noisy when cars were coming in and out.

    V. friendly, efficient and accommodating management. Staff all v. friendly, efficient and helpful.

    Storage in room was limited and ability to adjust heating was inadequate - however, manager arranged adjustment v. promptly

    Room heating is on a sensor system meaning that the room was cold on arrival and was cooled down overnight.

    The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, made us feel really welcome which definately made our stay. The location is excellent, the hotel facilities are very clean and the rooms are very comfortble. Overall, a very nice hotel.

    Our only slight gripe would be the noisy water pumps in the room. Every few minutes we would get a clunk from the water pump especially after the tap had been running or the toilet flushed.

    "The size of the rooms/suites are very variable. The cost not so much so. If you like spacious accomodation it would be worth going for the larger suites. It was cheaper to book on line than with the hotel direct. There is a small outdoor plunge pool." (2961274)

    Very friendly and helpful service.Excellent food and very pleasant room.

    Air conditioning in rooms and passages could be improved as we found it very hot and could not see how to adjust the temperature.

    "A very friendly welcome, the hotel manager and his team were most attentive and helpful - could not praise them highly enough. The hotel was as we expected and very much what we were looking for on that particular weekend. It was a particularly cold weekend and the room was a little chilly - it would have been nice to have been able to have some personal control over the heating system in the room rather than having to contact reception. Breakfast was excellent but dinner disapointing as we were expecting a more traditional menu rather than a hybrid nouvelle cuisine approach - good wine list though." (2927991)

    Sky TV. Room was quite cold and heating system could not be controlled by guests. Dinner was a disappointment - emphasis on presentation rather than quality.

    "I am happy I chose this particular hotel, because it lived up to all my expectations. I wanted a nice, friendly place to surprise and celebrate my partner on his birthday, and I got it - chilled champagne left for us in the room, arranged beforehand on my request. Very friendly and helpful staff. Well cooked, locally produced food, such as Haggis (for breakfast, as well) and a great choice of whiskies, locally caught fish, cooked to perfection by an excellent chef! Very comfortable rooms, the bathroom was stunning and everything was in perfect working order. Good quality, generous sized bath towels. We will definately be back again!" (2932451)

    I cannot really think of anything. Maybe the floor was a bit squeeky in our room, but this really didn't matter much on the whole.

    Big room, good breakfasts.

    Hotel was warm but the room was decidedly cool, and the towel rail wasn't operating. Not great for a very wet October.

    Individualised rooms. Lovely decor and bathrooms. Fantastic welcome. Friendly service. Smashing food. Felt really cossetted and spoilt!

    Its quite expensive for a family of 4 but a cosy weekend for two would be great.

    The welcome we received on arrival was so warm and friendly and throughout our stay the staff were attentive and very helpful. Our accommodation had all the facilities we could have wanted and was attractively set out and decorated. An excellent break. We aim to return and explore the walks in the area.

    housekeeping coffee was not replaced after first night or biscuits room was not hoovered as papers from biscuits from first night were still on floor,area around the wash hand basin not cleaned although the toilet area was cleaned

    "The only negative point with the on line booking process, which was otherwise excellent,is that as with ALL the hotels that we booked through active hotels, the special requirements, obviously had not been 'picked up' by the hotel in that we asked for a smoking room with a jacuzzi. All the rooms are non smoking, but we were immediately, without fuss, transferred to a room with a jacuzzi, brilliant after a long drive. The main thing we would have liked to have known before we stayed at the hotel was just how good it is, I have already mentioned above that the description of a luxury double room was in the case of this hotel totally accurate. The level of service and the interactions with the staff was impressive, they seemd to be able anticipate exactly what we wanted and meet our requirements almost as we thought of them. The choice between the formal dining in the restaurant and the less formal bistro was an added bonus, having stayed in a number of hotels on our holiday it was a pleasant change to enjoy such a varied menu. The range of wines and whisky available was both extensive and of good quality. If in doubt ask the bar manager he is knowledgable, helpful and genuinely seems pleased to be of assistance. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, we shall definitley return for a longer stay, it is the perfect antidote to the otherwise frenetic lifestyles we all lead. It is one of the hotels that really lives up to its own publicity. REAL value for money, we felt thoroughly spoilt." (2002619)

    The luxury double room was luxurious with a jacuzzi, the accommodation on 2 floors each with balcony engendered a feeling of space, relaxation and quality by far the best of the 11 hotels we stayed in this holiday.

    None - Just maintain the excellent quality of accomodation, service and the attention to detail.
