"Accommodation was handy for business. The room was no bigger than a box room and was in a poor state with lampshades missing and keyboard damaged. Room was on the ground floor with large window on to street. Privacy was only attained by pulling roman blind down to cover window. Room is in serious need of upgrade and modernisation. Tv did not have independent tv channels on. Access to internet was good and easy to use; but extremely expensive when hotels are starting to offer this 'free'" (97618790)

Hotel staff were friendly and efficient

It was in an extremely poor state of affair. The room for single occupancy was no bigger than a box room.

Accommodation was close to the venue of my seminar, close to the shops and public transport.Breakfast was good and the staff was friendly.

I had one problem and that was the bed. The bed was very uncomfortable even the pillows were not comfortable at all, everything was just hard as a rock.I will highly recommend that these should be changed.I wasn't sure whether it was just my room or all the others were the same.As a result I could not sleep well and felt tired even after resting because I kept toss and turning all night.

We did not spend much time in our room. The hotel is old and needs some updating (ie: no a/c in rooms, peeling paint in bathroom, lots of cracks in the tub. Not sure if I would stay again especially when you convert the pound to US dollars and compare the value." (99823955)

"I would like to have known that the room was likely to beminiscule, with a single bed and on the ground floor. Given that the room was advertised as 'single' and at a cheap rate this was hardly surprising, but sometimes you get great rooms online if you book at the last minute - this was clearly not the case here. The staff should smile more and generally show an interest in the guests' well being. the whole place smelled rather odd. Musty or cooking or something. It was a very cold night in London. Usually my complaint is that hotel rooms are too hot, but this was was barely warm enough and I couldn't seem to get any change out of the radiator. Only three English language channels on the TV worked, I mentioned this to reception at about 7.15pm and they said they would get maintenance to fix it but it could take up to one hour, I said that was fine because I was going for dinner. I got back at 9pm and nothing had been done about it, and no explantion was given. The bath and shower were good though." (97296370)

    Location, bathroom

dificult to regulate heating; scratchy blanket; staff did nothing about non-working channels on TV, and didn't explain why they had done nothing.

"theatre was great, shame the hotel, needs to sort their facilities out as it ruined my stay and I don't think this was the first time that this happened." (99215574)

it was close to all amenities, close to thatre, breakfast good with full english when we only expected continental. good service at breakfast, and staff pretty good.

the expensive panasonic flat screen was without colour and without sound, a bit pointless! the shower was broken and sprayed everywhere. It soaked the whole bathroom, including the towels and me! it was not usable, not even if you held it. I tried running bath and only an inch of hot water came out, so not enough for a bath! had to have a strip wash. We complained and was told they'd give us a key for another room so that we could wash, and then the reception called to say the whole hotel had a problem and that they had to call maintenance, so basically tough! asked to have some money back and was told that that was up to the management, and when I asked to see the manager, conveniently the manager was not there!! Was told to write to them. Very dissapointing! Had to go around london with only having a strip wash and not feeling too great! also the room was noisy.

VERY slow service in the breakfast room - people were served before us despite arriving after us. Car parking right next to the hotel, but not suitable for our minibus, which caused a few problems." • 7/10 Thomas (Young couple)

from Middlewich , GB on  April 9, 2007

"I like this hotel a lot, I just wish that the reception staff that handled my check in had been a little more attentive. the process needn't have taken nearly so long. The lifts are a bit bouncy - literally step in side and they bounce! It's a bit frightening unless you're expecting it! The room on this stay on the 4th floor was nicer than the one on the 5th floor that I had previously where the bed was against a wall and under a sloping roof. Nevertheless both rooms have been clean, comfortable, had plush bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and ironing board, and have been very private and quiet - just what I wanted after a busy day. It's a shame that although the rooms have widescreen TFT televisions, there doesn't appear to be a working TV feed to them. There are only two reliable channels that can be viewed (perhaps 3 - but one of them is German!). Yup, all in all I do think this hotel is good value and would stay there again." (99966663)

Really convenient for the West End, quiet room despite the location, privacy, good shower, comfortable bed, iron and board in the room, classy appearance, lifts to floors, free mints on reception desk

The flat screen TV in the room only received two fully working channels (same as last time i stayed - presumably just not a hotel where tv-watching is encouraged!). Also it took 15 minutes to check in this time, as the reception staff were on a long phone call and kept losing track of what they were doing.
