Spacious rooms, friendly staff, nice breakfast!

Some wear and tear to room decor

The old world charm of the Hotel which is so much nicer than than modern tower blocks. The room itself, bathroom and Public spaces were spacious and gracious.

No view from our room window which was closer to the ceiling than the floor!

"The hotel was well suited to our needs at an affordable price. The staff were excellent, especially the young female receptionist on duty during our stay who was OUTSTANDINGLY helpful and a credit to the Hotel. The interior does not match the exterior and the whole hotel is overdue a facelift. The food in the restaurant was excellent by any standards and we would strongly recommend it. Our room on the groundfloor at the back was disappointing and it would have been better if at the time of booking it had been made clear where it was, so we could have had the chance to upgrade. Overall though, despite these setbacks, we enjoyed our stay. Once it has been refurbished internally we will be amongst the first to return!" (99889793)

The Hotel is in a magnificent setting and is a very attractive country house conveniently located for Aberdeen. The dinner in the restaraunt was excellent.

The internal decor is faded and shabby and the hotel needs an internal complete facelift. The hot water took a very long time to come through to our room.

"Top class hotel, great service 10/10" (3305290945)

    Warm and welcoming staff

Restaurant & Room service menus, a little bland

"The approach to the hotel is impressive and this is followed by friendly and courteous staff at the Reception,Cocktail Bar and Restaurant. The single room space is adequate and the room included the usual facilities, although no Tea making facility was available. The only downside to the Hotel,in my opinion, is that the standard of the food in the Restaurant (Dinner and Breakfast) could be improved." (3305246757)

The Hotel is in a majestic setting and is within easy reach of Aberdeen, the Reception,Lounges and Bar areas are in good order.

No real complaints about the accommodation

"I have stayed here several times and look forward to doing so again.Staff are friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is served in a lovely room with beautiful views over parkland and is a relaxing experience before the rigours of the day. Rooms are ideal for working in. Molton Brown toiletries!" (3304997846)

The setting is wonderful and it has the advantage of being, on average, 30 mins away from the centre of Aberdeen. The rooms are spacious, even the smaller single ones and are well appointed. The hotel accepts pets which is another advantage.

    Nothing really.

Lovely building. Good leisure facilities. Very helpful staff.

Room being overlooked by another room.

"A very pleasant hotel- ideal for a solo business traveller. Very comfortable room - unfortunately shower is over bath but otherwise facilities could not be faulted." (3304892036)

Comfortable bed; pleasant staff in bar; relaxed breakfast

I'd prefer a walk in shower. Would have prefered more comfortable seating in bar area or bar service in a lounge.

Beautiful historic building, very friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, good parking, well signposted and easy to get to, picturesque setting.

The room heating only worked when we were in the room - as teh weather was very cold during our stay and we were out a great deal, it meant the room was uncomfortably cool when we were in it. However, this is better than being far too hot in an over-heated and stuffy atmosphere.

    Nice scenery

Very Expensive & the residents bar closed earlier than expected

Everything you needed was there - you did not need to leave the hotel. The food was excellent.

"Unfortunately I was unable to take advantage of the leisure facilities, but they looked good. Some modernisation required (e.g. of lounge bar), but otherwise the hotel was very good and the staff very helpful." (1596784)

Very well appointed, with nice bedroom and excellent breakfast.

Bar meal at night less than perfect, but OK.

Hotel setting, and it's ambience - felt quality without being intimidating

"My husband e-mailed the hotel from Nigeria and asked for a room up-grade we asked to change room twice and were still not satisfied with the room we eventually accepted. It took 30 mins in the restaurant for our order to be taken and there were only three parties in the dining-room. The management should not accept overnight guests whilst weddings are being held, as they clearly cannot cope." (1627473)

    Food was excellent

Because of wedding party, attention to other guests and accommodation was poor

"We were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist and after we signed in we were given the instructions to find our room. The room was lovely, plenty of space and nice decor. The bathroom was large and well equiped. We liked the relaxed atmosphere whilst still maintaining a great standard. Cammies bar where we had a meal on the 1st night was ok and the meal was absolutely super. The following night we went to the Dining room and whilst the atmosphere there was excellent, the staff very attentive, the food superb, we felt the cost was quite a bit more than in Cammies bar and twice the price. Yes you are paying for the lovely ambience of the dining room and I would still go to the dining room for a special occasion as it was this time but the food in Cammies was every bit as good. We found the wine quite expensive. After our meal in the dining room we went to the Drawing room for Brandies and coffees and sat with the log fire roaring up the chimney and read our papers. Quite splendid. I am notsure it would be enough for younger couples but certianly if you like good standards and yet a relaxed atmosphere it would be perfect. The souroundings were also very beautiful." (1594367)

The double room was very good. Spacious and comfortable.

There was very little about the hotel itself in the literature
