"Comfortable. Pity about some of the other 'guests' who were noisy and childish. Some idiots bashed on my door at 2:41am and then ran off down the corridor. Not the fault of the hotel - just childish idiots staying there" (107499985)
friendly staff and a nice quality of room to stay in.
Not really a bad point and I didnt contact reception about it, but I think it is about time to turn on the heating in the rooms as it is now chilly in the rooms.

Never again will we visit your hotel. Took 45 mins to book in. I had to ask the staff in reception to stop bickering and get on with their jobs. Briefly, we had 3 rooms. Room 1, door fell off hinges. Room 2, wallpaper hanging off wall, smelled heavily of cigarettes, no soap etc. Dispenser fittings there but empty. Room 3, just adequate. Saturday night (1.30am) disturbed by people fighting/shouting etc outside our room. Police running around our corridor. Helicopter overhead. Newspapers ordered but never received.

Convenient with planty of rooms
Decor is getting tied, carpets are feeling grimy. Although a NON smoking room - there was a strong smell of cigarettes. Room was cold.

Bathroom moldy and smell of damp, bedding not the cleaniest and certainaly did not smell that way either, in hotels every week this is the worst I have ever seen, doors slamming in corridors from 5am onwards - did mention to reception and only response you got "non-one else has complained"

"all of my party did not enjoy the stay at all, the rooms where nothing like the pictures advertised on the internet we felt they were grubby, un-clean and did not feel comfortable to even sleep in the sheets. Also the maid entered all our rooms around 7.00am, we felt very strongly that this deprived us of our privacy particualary as there was a couple within the group." (107269380)

Overpriced even with Active Hotel discount. Shower wouldn't turn off and guy at desk didn't seem interested. Had to change rooms due to some sort of beetle in the bed.

Reception staff were efficient and welcoming
Cleanliness and general decor of the room and hotel, very dirty and dated. Grey peeling wallpaper, threadbare carpets, filth on the skirting boards etc. The Shower and flush barely worked and made an awful noise when they eventually did. The drinks at the bar were over-priced (£1.25 for a tiny splash of cola)and there was no price list even when I specifically asked for one. The Buffet breakfast was barely luke-warm but just about edible

"It was fine, very convenient for where I was heading the next day and I would stay here again. I got some peace and quiet and a hot shower, and the ever welcome tea and coffee. I did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment." (97384855)
Room clean on the whole, except point below, and non-smoking not a problem. Bright and cheerful, and not bothered by noise from elsewhere. Staff helpful. Good parking facilities and quick access from main road.
Upholstered chairs and footrest badly stained. Toilet difficult to flush successfully, evidenced by cracks in tiles around lever. The shower could not be adjusted to stop it pouring water behind the shower curtain and onto the bathroom floor, so I mopped up two floods. It was an unseasonally cold night and some heating would have been appreciated. An invoice was generated for my stay although I had booked and paid via the internet. Prolonged checking took place to prove this. Slightly embarrassing.

"I would not stay at this hotel again due to the noise, uncleanliness of the room and the awful meal." (108086812)
Friendliness of Reception staff
Room was not clean. Very noisy door banging just by the room and other guests allowing doors to slam. Not the hotels' fault, but if doors were prevented from slamming; it would help. Room service was not good : I ordered "Chilli Chicken" at £10, the meal was cold, and the chicken very greasy with no flavouring. I did not eat the meal, although I was very hungry.

Polite helpful staff. Cleanliness. Good breakfast.
Poor lighting of Palms Hotel sign on the A127 means that you cannot see the hotel until you are on it. We drove past the hotel on every occasion and had to take a detour to get back to the hotel entrance. Ground floor sliding windows need locking devices.

"A very pleasant week in a Plaza room - I can't understand why there are so many unsatisfactory reviews of the hotel, and can only think that the individuals concerned must have been very aggressive with staff and therefore lost their good will. However, I would not recommend the standard rooms if they are all like the ones I was shown." (97388324)
Plaza Room very pleasant and quiet; excellent Buffet Breakfast; very helpful staff.
Telephone did not work; no internet connectivity in room, so had to do confidential work in the public area, which was very noisy on Friday/Saturday evenings due to weekly disco and then a party. Another room I was offered, which supposedly did have internet access was very inferior, and I opted for the internet inconvenience and a more pleasant ambience.

"A really poor hotel for the price paid much more expected!" (108084707)
Blood stain on mattress, messy carpet, unclean walls, (was a smoking room who has those anymore?) Chips in bath, really uncomfortable bed, people being rowdy at 2am when trying to sleep on both nights as there is a night club in the hotel not stated! Sour staff who cant smile! Housekeeping constantly knocked the door monday am trying to clean the room told them to go three times! as no disturb sign in the room. Beer bottles from previous guest in room on top of cupboard. Television not as described just basic terestrial.

Staff were friendly and helpful from the moment I arrrived until I left - excellent. The room was comfortable and had everything that I needed including a desk to work on.
No really bad points to talk about, though more lighting over the desk would have been helpful and the chair was a little bit too low for working at a desk. These are very minor items, and didnt spoil my opinion of the hotel, which I consider to be excellent.

Bedroom walls are inadequate if you have noisy neighbours. To be fair, the night manager did follow up a noise complaint very quickly.

warm and comfortable.
old, ragged blanket on bed; towels were not changed on the 2nd day - room was not attended to; hot food was not as fresh as would have been desired; staff didn't offer a warm welcome; smoking rooms were at front of hotel which we had to walk past to get to and from our room - not pleasant; disappointing that the restaurant was not open on friday night - this was not indicated to us prior to booking; difficulty parking due to night club on both fri and sat night.

"I would have liked to have known that I would be able to get more than 2 hours sleep on the Friday night as I had to work the following day. I was aware that the Hotel had a night club at W/E's but I wasn't aware tht this meant the evening meal was then reduced to bar menu only and the breakfast was put back to 8am. I wasn't aware that the drinking in the Night club wasn't just confined to the night club but people were allowed to purchase drinks up to 4am and consumme them sitting in corridors causing a great deal of noise. I wasn't aware that on the 4 occasions the fire alarm went off no action by the secuity staff would be taken to stop these people smoking in their rooms. I wasn't aware that guests were allowed to jump in and out room windows on the ground floor to ajoining rooms while shouting at the top of their voices." (97661284)
Good parking and good food
I disliked the noise from drunken guests slaming doors and running up and down corriors until 5am in the morning and smoke detection fire alarms that continually sounded on the Friday night of the night club.

Remote control not working due to not batteries, a note from the previous people back in mid april stated this, we contacted reception and the remote was not changed, we asked for more milk and tea bags in the room, this was not done. There should be more than 1 cup of tea available in the room.

"The hotel was clean, however the fixtures and fittings are very worn. The bathroom especially could do with modernising, as the enamel was very worn on the bath, the shower head was very spasmodic and there were two hot taps on the basin, although one did run cold. The bed linen was clean but rough dried, even the pillow slips were not ironed." (107260430)
Not enough staff. Couldn't get a drink at the bar without difficulty as the member of staff working didn't usually work in the bar, and didn't know the difference between Guiness and Caffreys. The same member of staff, who booked us in greeted us by listing her complaints about how she was expected to do everything, and that she would probarbly leave as she was expected to do the work of 4 people. Also while she was ranting she swore.
