    "Pleasant and okay" (107114192)

Staff excellent. The TV in our room did not work, immediately a member of your staff replaced it with one that did work. I was glad to be able to have my pudding after the performance at the R.S.C.

The eceptionist was charming but over-worked. Alone she had to deal with 12 people before I could check in, I had to wait ten minutes.

    Nice room, excellent bathroom

Poor service, cold breakfast served on the 2nd day, and complaints about noise at night in the hotel, including a drunk man trying to get into the wrong (our) room, were not attended to at all.

"Overall good. Quiet yet very convenient for town." (99530513)

Dining was very good. Food of a very high good standard. Evening dinner service was excellent.

An executive room should not be offered if you cannot provide a bed for each occupant. I was disappointed to be sleeping on a pull-out couch. Too many stairs to navigate to find the room - a direct route would have been better.

"Overall it was a very nice weekend break. In future if I did use this hotel again I would specify the room I wanted." (107197265)

Waiting staff and meals were excellent. Response by 'booking in' staff to complaint was good and quick. Room was cleaned well.

The first room allocated to us was small and dismal. I complained and was moved to a nicer one. It is a shame that I had to complain in the first place. We have used Best Western before in different locations and have always been pleased.

"The main purpose for our visit was for a relaxing quiet weekend away in Stratford upon Avon, well, we didnt really get that in the evening of our one night stay as there were in total three functions going on til the early hours with loud music including a live band that thumped so much through the room that our television was inaudible! We also had the pleasure of an arguiing couple outside our door with digusting language being shouted at one o clock in the morning. We did complain and were offered a small discount and free breakfast, which at £12.00 a head was worth taking. Shame because the experience of the town and the weekend was spoilt by that hotel stay." "When we arrived we were given no information and the staff were unable to answer basic questions. The person who served our bar lunch made 6 trips to the kitchen, fetching things like a knife but no fork. The breakfast food and service was proberly one of the worst I have ever experienced. It is about time that hotels such as the Best Western in Stratford were taken to task for the manner they conduct business." (97457097)

    Central to town

Poor service. Food was a poor quality. I refused to pay for the lunch.

The heating was not operational but just bearable. The staff in the restaurant at breakfast time were a little forgetfull; needed reminding about some items like toast, tea etc.

"Overall, a good stay but spoilt by lack of decent bad weather smoking facilities and miserable staff, both on reception and behind the bar. A good hotel for the money." (97651449)

The room was well equiped and clean. The room service food was excellent.

The reception staff were not friendly on arrival, on departure slightly better. The bar staff were surly. You have no adequate facilities for the large number of smokers in the hotel in bad weather - not good. You should cater for all your guests.

Nice relaxed atmosphere. Hotel close to shops. Staff were absolutely excellent.

Nothing major, but why no radio 4 provision on the television? I missed The Archers!

  • 5/10 Trevor ( Young couple)

from Long eaton , GB  on  September 27, 2007

"We originally stayed at this hotel in August 2002 and found it to be value for money. Since then the room rate has increased considerably, and as the decor and service is exactly the same it is hard to see how such a large increase can be justified." (97574118)

    Near to the town centre

The room was too hot without the window open, and as we were on the front the road noise was very loud (as were the skateboarders who chose to use the entrance stairs to the hotel for ramp practice at 3am in the morning!)

  • 7/10 Edward ( Solo leisure traveller)

from Princes risborough , GB  on  May 9, 2007

I stayed in room 120; the route to the room was too torturous. The basin plug was not adjusted properly and the sink would not drain effectively. I think for the price, things like water, fruit etc might be included rather than having to upgrade to an 'executive' grade as was being advertised. Car parking was limited so there was some worry about being able to park if I left the premises with my vehicle.

Decor of the bedroom was a little dated, but nothing to worry about.

We liked the spacious room and the main hotel areas. Also parking was useful and hotel very central.

The bathroom could have been updated.

We had a really good sized room for our stay. It had great facilities and excellent power shower in the en suite. Bed was comfy and it was quiet at night even though we were near reception. Our room was opposite our friends which was requested upon booking. Very happy overall with the booking, service and accommodation." (99928380)

from Bournemouth , GB  on  May 16, 2007

"Generally, all very satisfactory. I'm a little concerned about the wear and tear on the carpets on the stairs in that accessing our room at the Grosvenor Stratford (203) via the stair case through the public bar showed the tread to be very thin - this could cause an accident and doesn't reflect well in terms of maintenance of the property. That said however, it didn't detract from a very good stay with pleasant staff and excellent food in the hotel restaurant." (99182407)
