"I couldn't complain about anything. However, I did only spend very limited time at the hotel. All the staff were very very friendly and helpful and made me feel very comfortable." (97803829)
I booked a standard double room for single occupancy and was given a suite with kitchen facilities and lounge area.
The hotel is very dated and would benefit from a refurbishment.

"You could not ask for a better location in Exmouth with wonderful sea views from the bedroom. Accomodation excellent and offering large rooms with better than expected facilities. Large garden with with only a few hundred yards direct walk to the beach. All staff very friendly and welcoming." (97131819)
Excellent location in Exmouth with views overlooking the sea from individual balcony. Large en-suite twin room with excellent facilities - coffee/tea, large screen TV with Freeview & DVD player.
Only a minor criticism - Cooked breakfast was rather average in the restaurant with all the indications that it had been kept warm for some time and not cooked on order.

"Interesting" (107204101)
The veiw was fantastic
35years out of date and hotel rules could not be changed. To inflexiable to the guests needs. I asked if breakfast could be served at 7.45 am as we had to leave before 8 am. This was not possible. Do not add bills to the room, had to pay for Dinner in the restaurant.

"As a B&B this would have been fair but we expected more from a hotel. We were surprised that the bar and restaurant were franchised out preventing us putting our meal on the account. You were let down by the catering. The meals were plentiful but of poor quality and the service was disappointing. The leisure facilities were reasonable except for the very limited changing area and this is what drew us to yoursellves in the first place." (97803816)
Room was a good size with an excellent view
Room smelt as if it had been used for smoking. Fridge looked out of place. Shower was weak & luke warm. Balcony door grated on Facia board.

Very spacious with seaview. Was able to smoke - FAB. Thank you. Good selection of TV channels. Bath nice and big and first time have encountered whirlpool, which was nice.
Only one complaint, which if I had been there long enough I would have mentioned to reception staff, but there was no information other than how to operate TV and what to do in a fire. No info on hotel and facilities, breakfast, how to adjust heating and no local information.

"A very ordinary place to stay." (99637482)
Very ordinary hotel. The 3 stars are perhaps valid but I fail to see how the AA have given this hotel 4 stars.
I was NOT impressed with the breakfast offered. A buffet style breakfast in the most primitive of forms. Be prepared to make your own coffee, tea and toast. There is no milk, sugar, cups or saucers on the table setting and no waiter service.

It was a bit of a surprise to have such a large room with all the facilities- very welcome mind you. We liked everything about it
The only comment I would make is that the bathroom was a bit on the small side. We are not a slim as we used to be.

"Generally this hotel was good value for money - if a bit shabby and old fashioned in places - and also in need of a lick of paint in some places. The suite we had was large and well furnished - with a wonderful view across the bay. The food again was quite good, although the vegetables were a bit boring and the fish a bit overcooked. We would have preferred a bit more variety in the menu during our stay. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful." (99699188)
We were not expecting a suite, so were very please with the space, two bathrooms and a large lounge with a superb view across the sea and Exe river. The television was also excellent - new, large and able to get many stations.
The decoration of the hotel was shabby in places and in need of a good lick of paint in some places. The shower in one of the bathrooms was damaged.

The setting of the hotel is great, close to the sea and the town centre. The only thing that can be improved is the food facilities in the evening. Sport facilities were excellent." (99732313)

The room and bathroom were large and very clean and a balcony overlooked the gardens and it had a sea view! There was a 28 TV, DVD and digital TV.
The outside of the Hotel looked dated and did not do the rest justice at all.

Clean room, lovely sea view, great position near the town centre & beach. Also the indoor pool facility was very good.
Room: en suite facilities were a bit out-dated - could do with an independent shower unit & new plumbing. Service: No vegetarian alternative at breakfast, poor quality basics on the buffet (milk, yoghurt, bread)

"The staff were charming and very helpful. Our only disappointment was being refused coffee at 9.30 pm on our first evening. A young man who was manning the bar curtly told my husband that we couldnt have coffee as the restaurant was closed in (spite of there being a coffee machine behind the bar) -- we didnt ask again any other evening ! We travel a lot and this is the first time that we have been refused coffee at such an early hour" (99391553)
We had a wonderful sea view and the management kindly gave us a room near to a lift as my husband had injured his knee.

Oveall I would book through the internet agina it was quick and simple." (99681727)
The accomodation was a suprise. I thought we had booked a room but found we had a suite. This made the stay even better. The facilities were good and the staff friendly and helpful.
The swimming pool was small and full of young kids! perhaps a set time for them would be better - it was like being at a public baths on a saturday aftenoon!

"The below reccomendation would be increased if the breakfast issue could be addressed." (99402754)
The standard of accomodation & facilities was good, and I can imagine would be excellent for a longer break.
The fact that breakfast was only served from 8am. An opportunity has been missed to ensure the hotel is 'geared up' for Passing Out Parades at Lympstone, when guests need to leave earlier than that. Having paid for breakfast it was VERY disappointing that there could be no flexibility to provide us with an earlier breakfast. We had a rather uncomfortable & hungry morning!

Going round a lot of corners to bedroom, old building so this cannot be avoided though more signs to lift might help. Had to park in road.
