"Almost the worst hotel I have stayed at in London (average 2 stays per week)" (97178248)

Staff were very helpful and apologetic - both reception and general

The rooms were so hot the air conditioning did not work, the cold water on an evening was boiling - there were obviously serious maintenance issues attributed to this hotel

High standard of decor & cleanliness

Room was rather small and very warm, air-con not working, and requests to turn down the heating had no effect. Internet connection worked intermittently.

TV didn't work for entire stay, no view or balcony as we were underground

A nice and clean 4 star hotel very well located in London. Goood breakfast facilities too. I would stay here again if called for and recommend it to other people wanting to stay in Paddington London.

The Area at nioght was noisy and the fact that the windows are not double glazzed much of the noise comes straight into the room.

"It is situated only 5 minutes walk from Paddington. Accomodation is nearly perfect and breakfast is nice. But if you enjoy your hotel life itself, the space is too small. Accomdation fee including facillities seem very good for that area. Generally speaking, I recommend this hotel." (97915483)

    Everything is ok.

The space is very small and when I open my suitcase, I can not open the entrance door and where I can walk is only on the bed.

Tiny, basement double room, so small and compact, couldn't move in the bathroom, couldn't wait to get out and see daylight.

"Great location, just around the corner from Paddington Station. Although our room overlooked a quiet courtyard, and not the front street, it was still noisy. The walls seemed thin and we could hear doors banging day and night." (97384183)

The rooms were clean and newly decorated; the bathroom was excellent

A mysterious loud banging noise at various hours of the day or night which might have been a jack hammer, a water hammer, or an off-kilter washing machine. We never did find out.

    the furnishings were very good

Air conditioning not working although controls in room we were informed there was no air conditioning. It was a very hot night and the room was very warm and stuffy so we had to sleep with the window wide open. We also found the room very small and without a mini bar. The cold water also ran hot from the cold tap in the basin.

"Excellent (see summary of good points). I was very pleased with the overall experience and I would recommend this hotel to my friends." (108033845)

The best thing is the proximity to Paddington station & this made my stay relaxing and stress-free. I also loved the decor and cosiness of my (single) room (rm 103). Check in & check-out were easy and quick also. The hotel was clean, tidy & attractive, and the staff polite. I also felt safe. I was very grateful to be able to leave my suitcase in the hotel for a few hours after check-out until I was ready to catch my train. The hotel is also non-smoking, which I like.

The only extra thing I would have wished for is to have a bath in my room instead of just a shower.

The room was a converted broom closet, I have never slept in a smaller room and dont care to again. I was also noisy, with the door opening literally onto the reception area and rediculously hot.

"Although a little smaller than most, it was a very clean, modern hotel room. Bathroom was very modern with Grohe fixtures throughout. Plasma screen nice too. My room was in the basement next to offices. Some very loud, foreign-tongued women were talking in their offices about 2 hours before I had to get up, along with slamming of doors. The sound of their voices travelled into my room, which made it difficult to sleep during that time." (97965782)

"Whilst the Hyde is of a good general standard i do not think it merits a 4 star rating. The level of furnishing is good but the room size can sometimes verge of the ridiculous, with barely enough space to stand either side of the bed and must surely be a health and safety concern. The lack of air conditioning is a real problem for this hotel and is always very hot. The room i recently stayed in was a bigger room but the windows did not shut properly. This was not a major problem for me but just serves to highlight the gaps in quality that cause me to doubt the 4 star rating. In general the Hyde is OK for an overnight stay when on business but is not a hotel i would choose to stay in for more than a couple of nights" (97523646)

My room was absolutely minute - far too hot, couldn't adjust the temperature control. My stay lasted 3 nights and every night had to ask for towels - was told they were waiting for a delivery and so I had to wait for the delivery. Not good enough. In my opinion there is no need to change the towels every day anyway, or at least offer the choice, it may save you time and money.

I appreciated the bedding and the flat-screen TV. It was also very convenient to have a teapot and bottles of water. Nevertheless, the temperature was anormally hot and the walls do not seem to be very thick, which led me to overhear my neighboors. To sum-up, it was a nice stay, the hotel is very well located and the staff very helpfull and pleasant." (97490370)
