UPFRONT PAYMENT: I was requested to agree payment for the full amount of my stay (+ £50!!!) upfront, whereas usually hotels only take an inprint of the Credit Card and then you sign up for the final payment on check out. And usually, no £50 extra garantee is asked upfront. POOR VALUE FOR MONEY: The room was OK, but the bath room was below standard when considering the outrageous price of the night. I do not mind if everything is not perfect, but at least the price should be reviewed accordingly (i.e. downwards). I think that my stay was only worth half the price I actually paid.

Modern hotel with well designed and attractive guest rooms. Excellent location between Euston and Kings Cross Stations.
High cost of Internet connection. Hot water not hot enough unless you rise early. Insufficient TV channels.

"Throughly enjoyable - we would recommend the hotel without hesitation." (107234890)
We had an excellent 2 night stay in the Novotel, London hotel. We found it very convenient for the tube and for the Eurostar which we boarded on the Monday morning (a three minute walk is just right at 6am in the morning). Our 14th floor room was beautiful with magnificent views (despite the weather). The staff were first class.

Great View Of The City.
Very Noisy Room. Not Informed Prior To Arrival That Building Work Is Going On Outside The Hotel, Very Noisy In The Early Morning From The Work. Also Windows Do Not Block Out The Traffic Noise Very Well And We Were On The 12th Floor.

"Ok for a one night stay as location is good for Kings Crosss" (97500380)
public areas in good order
The finish in the bathroom was poor. There was a crack in floor (tile) and where a flush handle was ref itted or positioned there was a hole in the tile. bathroom size poor for executive room.

"This stay fell below the hotel's normal standard. " (99927933)
Great and responsive staff. Nice hotel with good location and facilities. Rooms normally excellent but not on this occasion.
Air conditioning did not work (pumped out hot air no matter how low I set the temperature and windows wouldn't open at all. I am claustrophobic and that combination of heat and airlessness meant I hardly slept at all. It wasn't possible to change the rpm as the hotel was full. . .

"OK, but for the cost uninspiring. " (97297161)
Tea/coffee provided mean and inadequate. Toilet roll holder broken. Glass door to bathroom eccentric. Shower complicated to use and not really very good. Hotel in general had no discernable atmosphere - it felt like a transitory stopping off point

"I would definately stay here again. I'm sure if I had reported the two defects above (which I would have done if I had been staying longer) the staff would have sorted it out." (97745921)
Nice sized room which was clean and fresh Staff were efficient and pleasant when checking in and out My husband reported that the breakfast was excellent and the service good.
Only one cup in room and the lamp on the desk didn't work.

"The hotel is well sited for access to London from the North (and Europe): a couple of minutes walk from Kings Cross, St Pancras and Euston (terrific if you've got loads of shopping to take home). The staff are friendly, proffessional and obviously a well-trained and committed team. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean with views over Chalton Street and a large, comfortable bed. We were delighted to get smoking acommodation. The bathroom was modern, stylish with an excellent shower and bath. Temperature control in the room was also excellent. There's a nice little cafe on the ground floor where you can relax and wait for your train. The Shaw Theatre is part of the same building but while we were there it was just in rehearsal. They have a facility for leaving your bags after you've checked out, again terrific if you've got a lot of shopping to do!" (97165397)
The staff, the location, comfort, not too pretentious!
The courtesy tray of tea + coffee was a bit spartan, but the staff did say you can always ask for more. We slept really badly, but that's just us!

The hotel restaurant (Mirrors) food was excellent, although the menu was a little restrictive.
The view from my 2nd floor window of the hotel plant rooms, etc., was not the best in London

The bathroom, the shower in particular - fantastic! Oh and the lift with the panoramic view.
Lack of plugs near to mirrors. My mum being ignored by one of the bar waiters which meant she had to ask for service.

"There was a fire alarm at 2.20am and we had to evacuate the hotel. There was NO communication from hotel staff who all stayed inside the foyer for the hour and a half the guests were outside. There did not appear to be any organisation or any checks to ensure all guests were accounted for. This we found very worrying particularly as the capital is on red alert for terror attacks." (97001207)
Large comfortable room and bed
The pair of underpants sticking out from under the bed presuambly from a previous occupant. Very little toilet paper, it ran out after the first toilet use.

"All Novotel hotels I have stayed at so far have been very nice and are a comfortable place to relax either overnight or over many nights. The cost of accomodation was very good, especially for a hotel in the middle of London's West End. All 3 rooms booked were excellent and the facilites were as I expect from any hotel I would stay at. Both my guests and myself were happy and I would always have a Novotel hotel ready at the top of my list wherever I am likely to stay." (99290280)

"The scenic lift and view from the upper floors is lovely. Hotel was very modern and clean. Our room was large with kingsize bed. MP3 player can be plugged in to TV and the music is piped in to the bathroom. The area is very central and extremely convenient for trains. The bar is reasonably priced for the area and has a nice ambience. The concierge will securely store your bags after you check out until you require them. We'll be staying here again when we go to London" (99298224)
The view and the modern, clean decor. Ask for a room on the higher floors when you book!
Noisy maids talking in the wide corridor with little consideration to those in bed @ 8 a.m. The only minor annoyance of the stay.
