"We had an unexpected invitation to an event in the city so we only booked the hotel the day before. We were thrilled with the hotel, the staff were pleasant and helpful and the room was wonderful; the bed extremely comfortable. The room was a good size, when generally city hotel rooms can be very small. The decor was impecable, nothing shabby at all. The bathroom facilites were excellent and the shower was wonderful." The general cleaniness of the room and the spacious of the room was really good. Getting there is really easy too and has good links to other areas in London.

The air conditioning in the room was really loud and you had to have it on all day before the room started to get cool.

"We were very pleased with the hotel and the location!" (97913945)

Clean room & bathroom, large room, quiet although on the street, good breakfast, attentive staff, good location very near 2 tube stations. My 13 yr old son was most impressed with the TV in the bathroom!

Inadaquate airconditioning. Some correspondence needed to be sure of breakfast included during weekends.

Such a friendly atmosphere through the hotel. A lovely bar, gorgeous breakfast and the rooms was totally as promised - very very nice!

The view to the back is nothing to write home about. But this is a minor thing as we were staying to go out and see sights.

"Unfortunately the guests in the room above ours were extremely noisy in the early hours, it sounded like they were trashing the place. When we had breakfast we were only allowed 1 Full English breakfast, which when queried at reception was due to incorrect input on the computer. We were not offerred a reduction in the price. Aside from that we would return and would recommend The Chamberlain to anyone" (97358953)

Venue good for our purposes. Very comfortable and clean. Room a good size good facilities, plasma screen in bathroom was popular.

The location was ideal for us, the room was very comfortable and furnishings were perfect.

The cooked breakfast arrived cold - ugh.

"This is the best hotel I have stayed in. Very comfortable and clean. Brilliant room service. Convenient for tube although a little far out from the major attractions, however, the hotel was so good that the location did not matter. The hotel staff were fantastic. I will stay again next time I am in this part of London." (97892970)

Wonderful room. Very comfortable, spacious and quiet.

    Concrete view.

Quiet location at the weekend. Felt very safe. Excellent quality of fittings and fixtures. We were upgraded to a room with patio balcony so were very pleased with value for money!

The breakfast was good but the service seemed a bit choatic and slow.

"Disappointed in a taxi driver who didn't listen to fact we wanted to go to the Mansion House 'for a function' I said to booking staff. The diver took us to Mansion House station - then had to double back for our proper destination - I had to pay full cost and he wasn't sure where it was. Suggest you change the firm you use! You are very expensive - and I would not rate you above a good 3 star hotel" (97197417)

    Was quiet and suited us

It was new Years Eve so bar was open at 2.00am which was good Close to the River, good accessability. Also we got upgraded to a roof terrace room which was a nice surprise.

Nothing, however when booking on line it is not clear if you get breakfast included.

"I took 'pot luck' in booking this hotel, as we needed somewhere very close to Commercial Raod for an event we were attending. I had all the information I needed, but was delighted to find such a user friendly, clean hotel, whcih was central but offered very good value for money. Highly recommended." (97098234)

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We especially liked our roof terrace, which gave us views of the Gherkin and Tower Bridge.

Nothing, but we had been promised a 'walk in ' shower and it turned out to be over the bath.

"A good, traditional hotel with large, well appointed rooms." (97920077)

    Quality furbishments.

A few small niggles in the room itself - air-con knob not attached so that it was impossible to adjust the temperature, tv in bathroom faulty.

The rooms are smart, comfortable and quiet. Fast internet access

Potentially excellent restaurant ruined by inadequate staffing and long waits. This is a very under exploited resource. Slow registration on arrival. Rubbish Quadriga television.

  • 8/10 Ann ( Mature couple)

    from St. catharines , Canada;CA  on  November 25, 2006

"In general, we were very happy with the Chamberlain. However, we did not realize when booking it that because of its location in the City, we would be prisoners of London Transport on the weekends, when neither the Circle nor City lines were running, and on Monday, when there were severe delays. I would recommend this hotel for people with business to do in the area, but not for tourists who want easy access to the West End." (3305383512)

The room was large, clean and quiet. I liked the Keiji brand of toiletries.

From a Canadian point of view, 11 pounds for a continental breakfast is highway robbery.

  • 8/10 Thomas ( Young couple)

    from Cardiff , United Kingdom;GB  on  June 6, 2006

"The hotel is well placed, being near enough to the centre but not so near that you step out on to the street and get lost in a wave of tourists. The shower in the room was excellent, really woke you up in the morning. The service was a little intermittant, there was no room service during the early hours and housekeeping were a little keen waking us twice in the morning! However the manager was excellent at dealing with this. Check-in and check-out were smooth and painless. Overall a hotel well worth staying at, will definitely be staying there again." (3304785459)

    Good location and great room.

    Service was mixed.

hotel was clean and well decorated with a large bathroom
