Very nice family run establishment. The room was comfortable. Only stayed one night on the way to London but would like to go back to Shrewsbury and stay longer here.

Nothing except the Internet access was not working the day we were there.

  • 7/10 Beverley ( Solo business traveller)

from Walthamstow , GB  on  March 19, 2008

"I was not aware of serving times for breakfast - possibly would have gone to a hotel serving earlier (if one was to be found). I would normally expect something more substantial than cereal as substitute to take away for early breakfast. For £60 on a single room outside of London I would normally expect more than this.I appreciate that old buildings can be damp and draughty, but the radiator could barely keep the room warm, and in fact went off well before I went to sleep, and was cold during the night and in the morning." (97444913)

Kindly chap who checked me in on arrival, and night porter who put cereal out for me in the morning and looked out for my taxi.

Cold, draughty, very lumpy springy bed with a big dip in the middle, and lumpy pillows, poor pressure on shower. I had to be in work for 8am, so breakfast was sadly too late for me to utilise - cereal was not much of a consolation,

"Generally satisfactory, but on touring the town,I found another hotel that seemed to offer superior accomodation at a lower cost, so perhaps it could be more competitive overall. The constrcution work taking place at the rear was unfortunate and would not be good for those expecting a peaceful stay, but did not adversly affect my own stay." (99036432)

Staff very helpful, restaurant clean and service prompt. Located close to riverside and town.

Unfortunately surrounded by construction works nearby. Other residents were very noisy at night. No meals available on arrival

  • 7/10 Anonymous ( Mature couple)

"The bedroom we were allocated was not worth the amount we paid. we would like to have known that the hotel backed onto a building site. Fortunately it was a Saturday evening otherwise we would probably have been disturbed by noise from the site. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. The hotel and bedroom were very clean and well equipped. We would recommend for everything except size and position of bedroom." (99054169)

Position in the centre of town and it had private car parking.

The bedroom was small and it overlooked a building site.

"The shower only had cold water. When I told the receptionist he advised me to get hot water I had to pull some sort of cord to activate the hot water. I never noticed this cord, certainly saw no instructions that this was required, and was advised that this is a common problem.Perhaps the staff should check the hot water is on before the next occupants arrive." • 5/10 Karen ( Young couple)

"I booked this hotel as other places I had chosen were fully booked. The room was small and the bed uncomfortable. The breakfast was nice when it finally arrived. The dining room was chaotic. This may have been due to a new member of staff, but the kitchen seemed unable to cope with the number of guests. Just as well we were not in a hurry. I would only stay here again as a last resort, as I felt it was overpriced." (3305170633)

    Central location.

The room was small and very basic. The bed was uncomfortable.

"Our complaints are no reflection on the staff or the hotel itself. If we had realised the position of the hotel we would have chosen to stay further out from Shrewsbury." (3305154131)

Staff were very pleasant & helpful. Breakfast was very good.

Poor parking facilities. Location - it was very noisy throughout the night, with noises from outside (4.00 o'clock in the morning we could still hear cars racing down the lane & screeching brakes!)We didn't get much sleep at all!

  • 7/10 Angela ( Group of adult friends)

    from London , United Kingdom;GB  on  August 10, 2006

"Nice friendly Hotel. Comfy beds. Easy to find. The showers could do with updating though and veggie options at breakfast would have completed the stay." (3305150509)

Liked the fact that it was family run and not a chain

the parking was a bit difficult and as I was late checkin in, I had to park in pay and display round the corner and moved it at 8:45am

staying in a family run hotel makes a nice change from the faceless corperation/chain hotels. The owners were very friendly and efficient. This place also had a hotel feel about it as opposed to b&b style, professionaly run.

"For the cost of the room I expected the standard to be a lot better. There was a hole in the mattress with springs protruding and the shower door kept falling off guide rail." (3304708541)
