"MY MOTHER WAS BORN IN ENNIS -THE QUEENS HOTEL HAD A REPUTATION-THAT IT SADLY DID NOT LIVE UP TO-YOUR WEB PICTURE SHOWS A GRAND BUILDING FROM THE OUTSIDE-BUT INSIDE IT WAS JADED AND RUN DOWN. I THOUGHT WE WOULD BE STAYING IN A STYLISH AND ESTABLISHED HOTEL-WHAT WE ACTUALLY GOT WAS BASIC ACCOMODATION WITHOUT ANY STYLE OR SUBSTANCE" (2170422)
NOTHING IN PARTICULAR -IT WAS ADEQUATE IF A BIT TATTY
TOTAL REFURBISHMENT-THE BEDS AND THE DECOR WERE AWFUL-THE LAY OUT DATED AND TATTY.THE MEALS WERE PASSABLE BUT NOTHING SPECIAL WE WERE IN ROOM 202 LOOKING OUT OVER A BAR WHICH WAS OPEN UNTIL 0300AM AND EXTREMELY NOISY-THE BATHROOM FITTINGS WERE ROUGH AND NEED UPGRADING.

"Very happy with our stay, wish we had known it would be so noisy at the front of the hotel though, we would have booked a different room." (2587018)
Very central, easy to find, friendly and very helpful staff.
Although expensive to do, double glazing to cut out the overnight noise, very noisy at the front of the hotel. Our bath was a bit old and dirty looking, the overblankets on the beds smelled a bit.

"We stayed on a Friday night, which was extremely noisy. It was a warm night and the noise from music and revellers lasted till after 2 AM. We didn't mind too much and quite enjoyed the carnival atmosphere but I think it should have been made clearer on the website just how noisy it could be. I can imagine some people finding the situation impossible I chose the hotel because it was advertised as being mentioned in James Joyce Ulysses. I would have liked to know more about this and the history of the hotel, which nobody I spoke to seemed to know." (2697735)
It is a lovely old building. The evening meal we had was good - especially the Irish Stew and breakfast with homemade wholemeal bread which was excellent
A small point but I could have done with an adjustable height shower - it was fixed to the wall and too high for me. Also there was no remote for the TV

"The hotel sits near to the 13th century friary and is well positioned within the town, close to all amenities. On arrival we were put in room 121. The room was horrendously hot although all other parts of the hotel seemed temperate. At midnight we asked for a fan to try and cool down. This lowered the temperature but not enough. We did not sleep at all on our first night. The next day we asked to be moved and the bedroom we got was fine, although in modern day terms the hotel needs refurbishment. Rooms 121 and 122 sit next to the heating pipes - to be avoided at all cost. We received no discount or compensation of our night of over-heating!" (2245832)

"I would definitely stay at the Queens Hotel again if I visit Ennis again." (2103671)
The staff was welcoming and accommodating about storing our luggage. The room was lovely. Loved the location.
I would have felt more comfortable if the staff had alerted us to current municipal water contamination problem in Ennis when we checked in and provided bottled water in our room, or at least the option of buying bottled water at check-in.

"We thought we would have free admission into the nightclub and we didnt which did make the weekend more expensive then we thought it would be. Also we were told there was no residents bar on Friday night which was abit disappointing also." (3304194500)
The hotel was close to all the pubs and amenities in the town, the staff were friendly and room service was available.
The shower in our room had no hot water every time we had a shower and even after bringing this to the ettantion of the staff on Saturday morning the water was still cold on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

"The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location is excellent. The facilities are tired and worn, but overall acceptable." (1444008)
The centrality of the location
Mildew in bathroom, tattered furniture, worn carpet, smelled of cigarette smoke

"Rooms were on second floor, which was good given, the night club late night noise.Would possibly not have enjoyed it so much if in a first floor room. Reception staff first rate and frindly - nothing was too much trouble. Notes re the potability of the tap water could have been better notified !" (3304179259)
Central, with friendly staff - most helpful, and with excellent meal facilities within the hotel.
General cigareete smoke atmosphere about the upstairs floors. Key needed refreshing each day to allow room access, though this could be a positive from a room security aspect.
