"Lovely friendly hotel." (97938559)
Friendly staff.
Not a bad point just the fact we wanted to have a drink when we got back from a night out to find the bar closing. The staff were not impolite at all we just thought the bar would be open later.

"The staff are very helpful, friendly, and very efficient. The room was clean and functional. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It's within walking distance of the Bullring and the Birmingham New Street train station. It's on a main road, but I couldn't hear anything in my room. All round good place to stay." (97809773)
It had everything that I needed.
The buzzing light in the bathroom, and no SKY.

"On arrival at hotel the check-in staff were extremely efficient and helpful. I asked for a taxi to be booked for the next morning and also a wake up call and throughout booking in process staff were always smiling and nothing was to much trouble. We were given a map and staff explained how to get to town centre. Room was excellent value for money. Food excellent. Room service excellent and a bonus not having to pay for extra tea coffee facilities in room, room service happy to bring anything needed. Nice to see named brand coffee, tea, hot chocolate & fresh milk upon request for tea making facilities. Overall excellent stay wish we could have stayed longer." (97690755)
Staff were excellent especially check-in staff. Extremely helpful & efficient

"Enjoyed our stay, very reasonable at £55 including a nice cooked breakfast. Handy to the city, staff helpful and we loved our upgrade to a suite!" (97586225)
We got to our room to discover they had put us in a suite! It was great! We had our own living room separate to the bedroom which was great to chill out in and get ready. Was a great bonus to our stay!

Large room (Disabled room)
the tap constantly leaked and were not plumbed in properly - £2 for a game of pool is quite frankly a rip-off and the drinks and food prices in the bar were to expensive (Although the quality of the food was very good)

"Convenient location for those with a car who are unfamiliar with driving in Birmingham. Unfortunate that the sign on the front of the building is in a state of disrepair which belies the higher standard within." (97881175)
Generous size single bed, view across the city, cleanliness, all staff were courteous.
The remote control for the television was missing, traffic noise (although this was only with the window open.)

overall the hotel was clean and tidy and it was also close by to the city centre.
there was no hot water and when reported to reception reply was that as the hotel was not busy the boiler was set on low so the water was only luke warm.

Room very clean and a decent size. Beds comfortable. Bathroom looked new and shower had decent pressure/was hot. Location excellent - very close to city centre.

"If a water main had not burst, this would have been a pleasant stay in a well located hotel. As it was, I ended up attending a training event unshaven, unwashed and uncomfortable. Not their fault, but the subsequent offer of a 25% discount wasn't adequate, however as I was running to a tight schedule I was not able to take the matter up at the time." (97603382)
The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning effective.
Desk light did not work. No cold water in the evening, and neither hot nor cold water in the morning. it was not possible to make coffee, nor to shave, shower, nor flush the lavatory.

"Overall this is a good (but basic) hotel. My room was very small and very basic. The room was over heated and uncomfortable. Water for the bath/shower was not hot (warm). The furniture was broken and had no mini bar in the room. The quality of the picture on the television was poor. The room its self was very clean and sleepable. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Even though this hotel was very basic, I would return again if necessary." (97154134)
A central hotel just off the M5. Modern reception area and dining room/bar. Linked carpark facility with 40% discount.
Water for bath/shower was not hot. Room very small (even for a single room) Broken draws. No Mini Bar Hot room, no self control heating. Poor picture on television.

"The prices were what I associate as reasonable for accomodation (ie cheap in comparison with others) The staff were quick about a replacement kettle and the night reception just as quick about attending to my needs. All in all I had a pleasant stay and intend to return, and have already spoken highly of it to friends. Excellent facilities. (16 October 2006, twin room)" (97778203)
The environment created for my arrival at The Thistle Birmingham were helpful focussed staff on reception, and a delightful ambience to the room : classical music playing, a welcome message on the television screen and beautiful tidy furnishings.

"Hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Breakfast however was very poor. Breakfast was buffet style self service but cold which was very disappointing as i like my cooked breakfast to be fresh and hot. We had breakfast at 0900am so not sure what time it had been prepared. When i requested special K cereal they were unable to provide. The fruit salad was stewed. I expected better for £12.50." (99642250)
Accomodation was comfortable and had good facilities such as tea making facilities and ironing board
Accomodation was comfortable but required air conditioning facility due to heat. Toilet seat was broken.

It was clena and tidy, had good facilities and had some great food.
The wait at reception, only 1 staff memeber on duty was very frustrating, however the young gentleman behind the desk was very pleasant and is a credit to your hotel.

Friendly staff. Clean room.
One of the single beds was very squeky and I suspect that one or more of the legs was loose. The other, a spring was poking through the mattress.

"My stay was for business and pleasure and the hotel was fine for both. The staff where very helpful and I enjoyed my stay." (99470157)
It was very friendly and homely the food was a bit on the expenses side especially the breakfast when all I wanted was a drink toast and fruit but the standard was good.
The only down side was the building and road works being a lady on her own I found that I didn't feel like walking into the city centre at night.

"When I arrived the computer system was down and staff seemed thrown by this. I had to wait around while a room was allocated and then when I got to the room found it was a non-smoking one despite having asked both when booking and when checking in for a smoking room. This meant I had to return to reception and then wait again as the computers had come back online in the meantime. There was no information in the room about choices of food available downstairs just a very poor photocopy for room service. As room service had an additional £5 charge (unusual - why not just absorb into prices) I decided to eat downstairs but it was unclear that bar food was available so i ate in the restaurant. This took longer than I would have liked as I had work to do." (99724941)
Table and chair in room, separate from the dressing table. This gave me space to work

"OK. The room was quite small and I could hear everything that was going on in the rooms next to me. Goog location for my stay this time and freindly staff." (97973797)
Friendly approachable staff, cleanliness good. Food lovely too.
My TV had no remote control, the arial was faulted. My bed was so hard I didn't sleep (I requested an extra duvet for comfort but never got it!). The breakfast was rather delayed, I had to wait to be seated, then wait once seated for the food to be put out thus makig me late.
