staff were friendly and very accomodating, even the cleaners were jovial and pleasant to talk to

non really , bar prices a bit steep

    Easy parking

Single room - much too small

Friendly staff, good value for money

No aircon, the room was hot and uncomfortable

"Overall the staff were kind and pleasant, room finish was very nice but too small and stuffy, food needs alot to be desired" (107125171)

very clean hotel , contemporary feel and appearance,

rooms to small , and were like ovens, triangular rooms???? front entrance reception lobby air conditioned but rooms not???? food was terrible, with portions too small aswell as tasting awful.

"After changing rooms my stay was enjoyable " (108099943)

Replacement Room was large and impressive, clean and tidy and there was not a problem in changing to the suite on the 7th floor, which was a surprise. This room was very comfortable. Breakfast was enjoyable too

The original single bed room was hot, stuffy, smelly and had the trouser press/iron in pieces on the floor. It appeared some work had been going on in the room. This was disappointing.

"During Stay no problems. Booking On-line simple enough, however although paid in cash for checkout, reservation also went through on card. Currently being looked into." (107100469)

    Staff, Surroundings, beds, food.

Noise due to re-furb, though only temporary, staff moved us to a quieter room.

  • 7/10 Anonymous ( Same sex couple)

    "Staff friendly and helpful." (107100057)

Room was nicely decorated and compact.

Bath stained, curtains and carpet smelt musty which was really off putting, no iron, door rattled.

  • 10/10 Neana ( Group of work colleagues)

"Hotel was in an excellent location for visiting a local exhibition at the Clarendon Suites. Staff were very friendly and approachable, and willing to help us with the walk between hotel and exhibition as we are both visually impaired. Breakfast was very nice and fresh, although twice the price you would normally expect to pay for a standard hotel buffet." (108080239)

Excellent large room, staff friendly and helpful, comfortable bed, fully accessible for customers with disabilities (level access entrance + lift), lovely breakfast though expensive.

    Breakfast very expensive but nice

  • 9/10 Andrew ( Solo business traveller)

"I would use this hotel again at a similar rate. Unfortunately for me, overall cost is an issue and the regular rate would not be something I would stretch to." (108007299)

Clean, maintained and for the room rate I paid, excellent value for money.

The swipe cards were tempremental and I had to visit reception twice to have it reactivated. The girl on reception was friendly and helpful with this request though. The building is a little ugly on the outside, but is quite pleasant inside.

"We had a lovely clean room, very quiet so we had a good night sleep.." (108024822)

Reservation, when i rang for advise the lady was very help and assertive

When we arrived we had to wait for a good 10mins at reception for a member of staff to check in, it was left unattended.

    "Fair" (108027600)

    Good location Accomodating staff

Couldn't get kettle to boil. Construction work in hotel woke us up. Dated room Confusing over booking twin or double room

"Good value for money and Executive Rook on a par with Hilton- now I know to book Executive Room only and goo" (108091732)

Standard Room was not adequate, as 'claustophobic in size' (may have been one of the smallest (?)) and then had to upgrade to Executive which was total opposite and great value for money at an additional £20. On latter would definitely go back. Also for a hotel chain the food was excellent. Also great toiletries as opposed to the rubbish you get with other chains (e.g. Holiday Inn, Village, etc)

Size of standard room - a cupboard at best!

  • 6/10 Peter ( Other)

    "dissappointed" (97330473)

breakfast; staff flexibility to fix room booking problems

    1. price given on booking was wrong for twin room 2. twin rooms NOT available3. 3. singl rooms on 6th flooor were tiny, and very tired.

Bed was very comfy. Staff attentive and efficient.

Could not open the window far enough to get adequate ventilation. (It was a warm night) Need to be able to disable the restrictor when there are no children in the room. Alternatively install air con!

"The hotel is poorly managed with little proactivity from staff. The fact that there is refurbishment going on, should not detract from one's experience. My room was cramped, in poor condition, hot, with no way of moderating the temperature and the bathrom was dingy, with a shower that decided what temperature it would operate at, irrespective of controls. The room had an internal aspect and therefore the noise sharing was maximised. Everyone i assume had their windows open because of the heat problem? My view is that a hotel should provide a haven for the weary traveler. This one was the opposite. Breakfast was distinctly average. The website is not an accurate representation of the hotel and lacks integrity." (97743209)

Poor room, heating and Bathroom tatty

"The hotel was easily found, good parking and well appointed. My room was small and an odd shape but adequate for one night. The bathroom taps were very difficult to turn on and off. The restaurante only had part of the menu available but it was a Sunday. I still think it has potential to be good value and would stay again." (97927637)

Good decoration in room. Very convenient location.

Very small and odd shaped room. Bath taps just wouldn't work properly.

"The main picture is quite deceptive. This particular hall is quite dark as compared to your picture. I wish that they should have included the room pictures and the fact that due to this hotel design, none of the rooms are square or rectangular shape but odd triangle shape with not much od space. There is no aircondition which is important in summer." (97911140)

    Good, friendly staff

Very Small rooms. Infact me and my friends changed our rooms from single to double rooms but even they were too small and claustrophobic

"The Paint was peeling in various areas in the room. The Radiator valves were broken, so the windows had to be open all night. There were roadworks outside the hotel from 3:00am until 4:30 am open windows meant we heard every minute. Extremely poor night's sleep. Poor linen. Poor condition of the hotel generally (ripped wallpaper, light bulbs not working.)" (97701497)

Large room, close to the venue we were visiting that evening.

    A lot. See below.

the only thing that I liked, is that the hotel is close o city centre

very small rooms, for the same price I was able to book with another hotel. there was no picture of the room on the website when I booked. you would think that double room would be fair large, but this was very small.

  • 8/10 Laura-anne ( Group of adult friends)

Modern room with a plasma TV on the wall, proper duvets on the bed as opposed to blankets, cleanliness was great, the room was adequately heated which was great (being November it was nice to come in to the warm room)

The rooms were slightly small, but we knew this already as we stayed last year. The check out time (11.00)

"The hotel was fine, and a good venue for a conference/seminar. Staff were polite and helpful and the food was predictable but fine. The major problem was the entry systems which failed regularly." (97354124)

    Comfortable bed, facilities ok

The keyless entry system is a nightmare! The swipe cards are extremely temperamental and I had to return to reception several times to get mine reconfigured. Twice I was refused entry to the entire corridor!

bed and bathroom,as they were the same size as other hotels'.

the size of the room was unexpectedly tiny, it was just a corner of the building and the bed has got 90% of the whole room.

"I would not recommend this hotel to anyone." (97749338)

Nothing. Was extremely poor and box like.

Facilities were poor and central heating could not be turned off. Room was very small. Very bad value for money

  • 3/10 Rachel ( Solo business traveller)

from Hemel hempstead , GB  on  October 19, 2007

"I wish I had know that the facilities where not really good for a solo female traveller. I went to find an area where I could sit alone and have a drink - there was not area to do this that I felt safe. The bar looked roudy, loud and dirty looking. The eating area was not suited for this purpose. So I had to have room service which incurred a £2.50 tray charge....what a rip off." (97662744)

Location and the staff were friendly.

The curtains were ripped, overall presentation in transit areas poor and carpets were very worn. Bathroom smelt of mold but it was clean. Poor selection of drinks for room service. This was not a hotel up to three star standard. You could only use debit/ credit cards for internet - why not have vouchers?

  • 7/10 Anonymous ( Solo leisure traveller)

The rooms had everything that you needed

The rooms were far to hot at night and the cards to the room didn't work properly. All of my friends had trouble with their room cards as did the couple who checked in before me, which meant we had to travel down to reception with all our bags to get the problem sorted. Not good at all especially at 1 am when i had to stand outisde my room trying the card about a dozen times.
