"Enjoyed our stay here. Very quite village but with easy access to York. Needs better signage for accessing the the parking at the rear of the building. Very comfortable bed and plenty of hot water in the taps." (108037410)
Laid back informal atmosphere.
Would have preferred a shower in the bathroom instead of a bath.

Friendly staff and local pub (Across the road) was a delight, the locals invited us into their darts game, we were all on first names and a great night was had by all.

Nice quiet country setting, short drive to town. Charming older house in small village with pub across the street. Very helpful host, did laundry for us and made sandwiches for lunch at a small charge.

"better to pay by cash as you are charged extra for card transactions. quiet location, excellent pub over the road that does great value meals. unless you arrange to check in early don't bother to arrive before 6pm as no-one will be there to welcome you. use the park and ride services near the hotel as parking in york is extortionate. pleasant, tidy clean hotel ideal for weekends away" (97840043)
clean, tidy rooms and friendly staff. buffet breakfast adequate , lots of info on local attractions close to park and ride service which was excellent.
quite hard beds but generally all was good.

"Perfectly happy with the standard of the accommodation. We know the area so that helps. Good positioning for getting to the park and ride to access York which was much easier than driving into the city and trying to find parking. Breakfast included in the price and was of a good standard. Not a boring type of accommodation. One of the owners is an artist and the work was tastefully displayed. Generally we really have nothing bad to say about our stay and would be happy enough to stay there again." (97933346)
peaceful location but close enough to city. owners friendly but not intrusive, nice village location and good local pub with excellent food and beer

"I have difficulty answering this question due to my comments above if I had been travelling to Thirsk or York the location would have been fine." (99243423)
Friendly and adequate for a short over night stop.
It was located quite some distance from where I was intending to stay however that was due to the Harrowgate location where I normally stay being fully booked.

"Me and my partner like the room very much as it had a ensuite bathroom and a lovely view of the village from our window. The room was very big and clean, and very comfatble. However i would have liked to have known that the public transport was not so reliable and it was very few and far between. I think this hotel is good for people who drive and have their own transport. But overall we very much enjoyed our stay and felt very relaxed." (99886672)
i liked the view from the bedroom, and the area that the accomidation was situated in was very nice and quiet
that there was not very much public transport into the city of york, it was not very reliable and as me and partner dont have our own transport this was a bit inconvient for us

"The B&B is about 15 minutes drive from centre of York situated in the quiet village of Tollerton. The farmhouse overlooks the village green and has 4 rooms. We were a family of 2 adults and 2 children in a room that normally only sleeps 3 but it was still more than adequate with 2 camp beds for the children. The rooms are furnished with period furniture and were spotlessly clean.Tea and coffee available in the room.Plenty of towels and soaps etc in the bathroom.Snacks can be ordered up to 10pm at night.Full breakfast excellent with loads of tea and fresh coffee.Cereals yoghurts and juices.Nothing too much trouble for very friendly owner who made us feel most welcome. If you want a peaceful stay within easy reach of York then this is the place to go." "This is a good venue for a short break. It is far enough away from larger towns/city to feel relly rural, yet very accessible for Thirsk, Harrogate and York. We would use it again." (3305014297)
An eclectic mix of antiques and oriental themes.
Rear access is easy to miss and doesn't create a good impression.

"Enjoyable overnight stay in comfortable room. Very homely place in a converted farm. Even though the room faced the main road through the village, I slept very well. Very good for getting to the York park and ride which costs £2 return. Two very good pubs in the village - one just opposite the B&B. I went to the Station Pub which is a short 10 minutes walk away - this is a Chinese Restaurant and the meal there was superb and very reasonably priced." (3304843845)
Host was extremely friendly and the full english breakfast was just right.

"We found it a pleasant surprise that we were offered an upgrade on arrival, though others may like to know this may be an option for them upon arrival. The curfew times, which were a range were a nice surprise also, although it may've been nice to know that the door to the hotel is locked at midnight but we can use a key if we come in after that and that people do that, beforehand so we could plan ouir night before arrvial, but this wasn't a huge problem. I think however, overall were we told all we did need to know before we arrived and when we made the booking." (3304553489)
We likied the fact that we were offered an upgrade to an en-suite room with a king-size double bed for just £10 extra, on arrival, even though when we'd booked there was only a twin budget room available. We also liked the friendliness and accommodating nature of the Chinese lady who checked us in and out, offering us a chair to sit in the sun in the garden while we waited for our bus back into York and who offered me fruit for the journey as I'm pregnant. She was most understanding and acted professionally despite having two children to deal with, particularly at the times of check in and out.
We can't think of anything we disliked about the room, accommodation, staff or service we received that night/next morning.

"I was very impressed with the accommodation at Chombeys. This was the first time I had ever travelled as a lone female and I was made to feel very comfortable, welcome and safe. The room was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, also clean and the guesthouse was easy to find. The owners were friendly and informative. I wanted to travel around the area and found the location ideal for this, as I could be in the centre of York in less than 30 minutes, but also had easy access to main roads leading to the rest of Yorkshire. However, Tollerton, despite providing easy access to these main routes, is a very pleasant village in the countryside and I was able to find good meals in pubs nearby where I was not uncomfortable eating alone." (3304421576)
The accommodation was extremely comfortable and well-furnished and the hotel staff were friendly, informative and welcoming.

The room, which was the biggest was a good size and in a good clean state. The cooked breakfast well presented and cooked fresh.
There was no shower in the room. We were woken easrly (before 7 am) up both days by children who live in the premises.

"The web sit was very informative with good directions and information about the area. To be honest the only other information needed perhaps was about what to expect when using the rear entrance as this area could put you off staying as the out buildings are untidy. I understand these are to be developed and this will eventually improve the first impression you get. Overall the stay was enjoyable." (3304310899)
Good comfortable room with en suite. Warm and pleasant.
Parking and pathway to rear entrance. A shower head for the bath taps for hair washing would compliment the bathroom

"We alighted in York after a dreary B&B experience in London. Cheap but very dingy, with a rather poor breakfast. The day was a series of misadventures too complex to detail here, but suffice to say that once we arrived at Chombey's our cares melted away. A good hot bath, a meal at the Black Horse pub across the street, and a good night's sleep in a warm, comfortable (albeit quite soft) bed made for a superior day of sightseeing the next morning. Tasty full English breakfast and plenty of conversation with Zhen, our hostess. Altogether the complete B&B experience we were looking for. Tollerton is a picturesque small town worth a walkabout. Great value for the price, highly recommended for overnight stays near York." (3304327451)
Pretty, large rooms with old-fashioned furniture and large clawfoot tub in ensuite. Friendly proprietress!

it's away from city centre.
have details available on local places to eat. serve hot breakfast on warmed plates so the food doesn't go cold as quickly.

"On the active hotels website it does not list the hotel phone number so I could not ring ahead to let them know I was delayed, but I was expected and welcomed. The hotel is located in the centre of the village and also has good parking. I was staying two nights on my way to Scotland and required an evening meal on the 2nd night - which was excellent. The dining room is charming with character from around the world brought into Yorkshire. I had access to the internet, catch up on emails, chatted with the locals, bought some local produce from the post office stores and had a relaxing bath - what more could you want when often you only see the car park, corridor and inside of your room. The essence of the hotel is captured - it is a retreat off the A1/A19 and worth travelling the extra miles. A good place for travellers to meet and swap stories." (2869750)
It was a well restored farmhouse - it had all the necessary amenities and more. It was charming. The owners were very helpful and interested in ensuring that I enjoyed my stay. I needed to leave very early and this was no problem.
Not a lot - it was so relaxing. A lounge could be useful - but the bedrooms are so large - they are very well equipped.
