"The room was really good and bed comfortable. Breakfast was good. The bad points above tended to spoil our stay through a poor nights sleep." (107208002)

Poor soundproofing of rooms Noise from other guests during night knocking on rooms and having loud conversations in rooms and corridor in early hours. No hot water in taps and plug unable to be released from sink

"Good clean hotel. WOuld probably stop again." (107295428)

Clean , tidy , good staff

Rooms although clean and tidy are souless and have no pictures on walls etc. I found the bar / restaurant to have good food and service, but again no atmosphere. COnsequently just ait and left.

"We were generally very happy. The staff were pleasant and helpful; the breakfast was very good and we enjoyed our stay." (97456176)

Clean and modern + we could take our small dog with no extra charge - this is a deciding factor in our choice of hotel

The weather was unusually warm which made the room stuffy. If we had the window wide open we were disturbed by the noise of heavy traffic outside as there was no air conditioning.

  • 3/10 Anonymous ( Other)

Breakfast adequate and linens were clean and plentiful

Rooms were not allocated correctly and we had to change a number of times. Poor facilities in rooms -i.e. doors failing to lock, radiators which were malfunctioning.

Size of room Bath plus shower Opening windows

Leaking pipe in bathroom, flooding floor. Very low hot water pressure. Curtains too small for windows. Distorted sound on TV. No meal available on Sunday night.

    The breakfast was good

The Hotel whilst appearing to be Modern had lots of parts that let it down. Starting with the car park, the block paving is uneven in places making it dangerous. Some of the basic facilities in the room didn't work, i.e.plug in bath didn't work properly, no remote control.

  • 8/10 Anonymous ( Solo business traveller)

Large room and very clean bathroom, staff very helpful.

needs a little bit of attention to detail - for example no hairdryer and a remote control not working.

Modern, clean hotel. Good size room (I was given a family room).

Its a little further out from Reading Centre than I realised. The reception staff on the phone were very poor at offering directions when I called.

"It's cheap, clean and quiet. You get what you pay for but I expected a bar and restaurant to operate as is advertised." (99306132)

The hotel was basic and clean and very quiet. Good location, close to town centre.

There was no bar or restaurant service for most of the stay. The tables weren't clean at breakfast so you had to eat around someone else's leftovers. Disgusting! The bedrooms stank of smoke and the doors and windows were difficult to open and close / lock.

All in all I stayed 2 nights and was in the main comfortable, with my only main critism bieng unoperational fitments in the room which was more annoying than an issue." (99411444)

New building and room furnicture, enough parking available on site, good location

The room was in the main clean, with the exception of the bath which had brick dust in the base upon arrival, with loose fitments and missing tiles around the bath area. The door to the balcony did not lock which gave some concern for security, however it was on the top floor so I left it.

"Based on this one nights stay an excellent hotel which we would have no hesitation in staying at again." (99058580)

After reading some of the reviews on the website we checked in at the hotel with some trepidition. We were very pleasantly surprised, the reception area's appearence was clean and attractive. The receptionist was pleasant and efficient, the room was clean and well appointed. As it was a Friday evening the bar was open but the restaurant was closed but we were directed to a nearby restaurant. The full English breakfast was large and freshly cooked and set us up for the day.

Difficulty in finding the carpark entrance on a dark, wet, night, from a busy Reading road.

"this is a lovely hotel with beautifull rooms but i would never recomend it for anyone with children the staff are not very polite and children were definatly not made welcome, we ended up having no breakfast (which we had paid for) as there was no where for my daughter to eat. this hotel should not advertise as being suitable for children as it is clearly not" (99085453)

the hotel was beautifull and the rooms where well equipt with loads of room

the staff were rude and spoke little english, when i asked if they had a high chair for my 1 year old was told (very rudly) no and then the waiter walked off.

"The Stay was acceptable for overnight business, though if it had been my money used to stay for leisure I would have been dissapointed and probably complained." (99885643)

Hotel was clean and Staff helpful and polite.

Facilities were poor. The TV would only play one terrestrial channel and the bath plug didn't fit. I was only there overnight so I wasn't too concerned and certainly not enough to complain or change rooms.

  • 7/10 Anonymous ( Solo business traveller)

"The food was poor, particularly the breakfast. There was a heated metal container that contained a dozen or so badly cooked hard fried eggs. The toast wasn't cooked either and the tea in one of those flask things wasn't hot. I had a sirloin steak for evening meal which was about £12 and whilst it was ok, it wasn't worth the money. Steaks for not much more than half that price at those fast food outlets like the Beefeaters which are attached to Premier Travel Inns are better. I had profiteroles as a sweet and one of them was still frozen in the middle. There were only two young foreign staff on duty who worked very hard but one of them struggled a little with her English. I felt sorry for them because they both worked until late at night and then were the only staff on duty at breakfast. Because of the food, If you had had a money-back guarantee like Premier Travel Inn, I would have asked for my money back." (99155873)

The room was fine and the facilities are good.

The shower was only warm and try as I might I could not get it hotter.

    "Very poor service." (99052797)

Easiliy accessible from motorway. Quality of food in restaurant was above average despite poor service.

Attitude of staff was appalling to the point of being rude. Many staff speak very little English. Restaurant staff were smoking in public areas very near guests. Hotel was advertised has having a swimming pool & jacuzzi - these have not yet been completed. Internet connectivity unreliable and expensive.

"This hotel lets it's self down in the restaurant area, it would be best advertised as a Bar Food menu. It was only staffed my one person, who became over run at times and as a result the food was not served when it was ready. On my first night my meal was served with 8 others clearly it had been kept warm rather than served. A nice clean hotel, but dont expect the food to be a great hit." (3305306001)

    Very clean, and confortable

The lack of understanding from staff in the bar/retaurant

  • 6/10 John ( Mature couple)

    from Ivybridge , United Kingdom;GB  on  September 3, 2006

"The Hotel is located about 4 miles from the Reading Festival Site so is ideal for the Middle-Aged Festival Goer who doesn't wish to slum it at the camping site. We walked to the site each morning and managed to get a 26 bus home on all but one night wehne whe paid £10 for a taxi. Having said that, the cost for four of us on the bus was £8 so, in future we will probably just bite the bullet and get a cab home. The rooms were clean and tidy and the bed was extremely comfortable and welcoming having spent the whole day on our feet in the festival. I thought the Waiting Staff at Breakfast, Particularly the Male one, were curt and discorteous. Whenever we asked for anything like toast or ketchup, he looked at us as though we had a bit of a cheek bothering him. Having said that, there wasn't a moment in the day, or night, when he wasn't up, working so he was probably completely exhausted. One night, we arrived back at the hotel at 2am having spent the day at the Reading Festival and he was up. He was then waiting at breakfast tables the following morning at 8am so, whilst in the beginning, I was quite angry with him, by the end of our stay I felt quite sympathetic. The Buffet breakfast was exceptional value. Despite my moans, we have booked the hotel for the Festival Weekend again next year so it can't have been that bad. In any case £55 for Bed & Breakfast is such exceptional value that I can put up with an overtired & grumpy breakfast waiter!" (2937334)

    Clean & Tidy. Comfortable Bed.

Some lights not working. Shower was horrible!

On another occassion stopping here i stayed in aroom with no external door locks..Although to be fair the room was ok.The good thing about this hotel is price you will not get anyhting like this in the area for the price and its very close to town.." The decor was clean

Not very much in the way of info or TV choice in the rooms>>

"As I have constant business in Reading until Christmas 2006, I asked whether I could be offered a special rate for a regular two night stay every week from now until Christmas. Unfortunately this was not offered, and so I made the decision to go somewhere else instead. This seems rather a shame for your hotel, as it seems to be mostly quite empty. I wonder why? When I booked in last night I specifically asked for a quiet room, as I was suffering from a headache. When I complained in the morning that the room had, against expectations, been extremely noisy, I did not receive an apology or offer of compensation. This in my opinion is not good customer service." (3305258843)

The hotel is modern, well appointed and clean.

I have stayed in two different rooms and both were very stuffy. It is impossible to open the windows wide enough. Although I asked for a quiet room, it was still extremely noisy with traffic and other guests being very loud in the middle of the night. In the downstairs toilet, three of the four tabs did not dispense any water, and diry towels were just slung everywhere. On the first occasion I stayed at your hotel in Reading, there was a nice breakfast laid out with a choice of cooked items. On the second occasion there were only cereals laid out and sliced long life white bread toast, which was a bit poor.

I thought the staff we very helpful and friendly and the cleanliness was to an exceptional level.

In the future i think it would be nice to see some information given within the rooms, ie local attractions, things to do and see etc. As the room we stayed in did not seem to have these items to hand.

"I was very content with the brief stay. Staff were efficient and allamenities were in working order. One shortfall was that as I had an early departure at 0630,and the breakfast room opened at 0700, I was unable to benefit from the breakfast that was inluded in the room rate. It would have been god to have offered a continental style breakfast as an alternative." (3305153057)

Good, clean and practical. Easy to find and close to the motorway exits. Good location

nothing. Maybe some note paper and a pen for the phone would be useful.

We did not have time to sample any of the restaurant food." (3305062751)

    New, smart, clean.

Hot (maybe the weather - July 06!) Aircon would have been very welcome.
