"Generally it is very good apart from this unfortunate incident. " (108044352)
It is usually very quiet and peaceful. Rooms clean. Staff friendly and helpful.
Some of the guests were very very noisy on the Saturday night - between 3.00 and 5.00 am. As there seems to be no staff at night there is no one to control this. Usually this is not a problem. I am wondering if groups choose to stay in a hotel like this so they can be noisy and there were more people in the party than were staying in the hotel.

"A very clean hotel, poor choice of carpet in the bedrooms, good breakfasts and very friendly helpful staff, The bar wasn't open or the restaurant when we needed to eat which was disappointing. But overall an excellent weekends stay. Hoghly recommendable." (97811814)
The suite was excellent, good sized rooms, good bathroom, hot water, comfortable bed, and curtains that blocked the lights out!
No internet connections in the room, not a major issue tho.

"Friendly staff, clean and modern rooms. Had no problems with this hotel at all really. All amenities worked well, nice location, if a little far from a town or village (you need a car). Warm and cosy on a dreadful night!" (97475766)
Well presented, arrangements made for us when we needed to arrive too late for the reception to be open. Excellent breakfast, great shower, very clean, quiet.
Bed was too soft and slightly too small for us which made for some backaches!

"I have stayed at this hotel previously and was impressed, however on this visit I took advantage of the special mid-week offer of BB and evening meal...the food is outstanding. Fresh ingredients, excellently prepared by a first class chef and extremely tasty. I stay away every week and have got used to quite bland, microwavable convenience food from most major hotel chains. This meal was a real treat and breakfast didnt disappoint either. The staff at The Avenue are friendly and very helpful and I would certainly recommend it, however I am reluctant to post this review because I would hate it to become soo busy that I maybe wont be able to get a room" (97405743)

"Overall the accommodation was of a good standard for the rating. However, the menu in room stated that room service was available from 10.30am until 9pm but when we called to get room service at 5.50pm we were told the restaurant didn't open until 6pm and that we would have to wait until 6.30pm for our order. In the end our food was delivered at 6.20pm which was fine but to be confronted with a comment such as the restaurant isn't open yet was odd. What would have happened if we had tried to order something at 3pm? Would we have been told the same?" (99612421)
Good location, nice and quiet. Room had good facilities.
Bathroom was suffering from some minor wear and tear. Toilet seat hinge was cracked.

"This hotel was lovely. We needed a hotel to accommodate 3 friends, which is often difficult as 1 person ends up paying more for a single room, however this hotel offered us the opportunity to share a suite, which had 2 sofa beds and a double bedroom, perfect for our overnight stay. The suite was lovely and very spacious. The service at breakfast was also very good considering there was only 1 waiter for the whole room. We dined at the Cafe Bar in the evening and the staff were very friendly and curtious. All in all this was a great hotel and offered everything to ensure a comfortable stay, well done!" (99547758)
As we were an odd number of guests we found it very useful that we were able to book a suite which could accommodate more than 2 guests.

Very good value for money, compact, clean & well equipped.
Service at breakfast - not very helpful. All a bit unorganised. We found ourselves asking for things all the time rather than the waitress offering us service & checking everything was OK. Would have been good if there was a vending machine offering drinks & snacks in reception.

"The only disappointing part was the breakfast. The quantity and quality were fine but the service was not great. It was fairly slow and glasses, bowls, juice and milk kept running out. Please could you also lay the table up with spoons for cereal. Once you have been up or down five times to collect things at the point they arrive having to go back for a spoon was a bit of a pain. But these are small criticisms overall we were very happy with our stay. Thanks" (99502179)

"The accommodation was perfect for the purpose of our stay. We were looking for a comfortable & quiet place to stay where we would not have to worry about getting back late. The rooms were very nicely furnished & decorated & staff were very helpful & friendly. The only disappointment was the breakfast. The staff in the dining room were very friendly & pleasant but not prepared for dealing with more than about 4 people at a time- we constantly had to ask for extra glasses, milk orange juice etc & the service seemed to be somewhat disorganised. The food itself was good though again good value for money." (99836344)
It was very modern, clean & comfortable. Much better than I expected for the price we paid. Feel that it represented good value for money.

"Overall, an excellent experience. We arrived about 1am, and the porter was awaiting our arrival. Security and parking were both excellent. The room was well presented, comfortable and clean. The staff were excellent; our main interaction was through the receptionist, Louise, who was charming, bubbly and went out of her way to help us with other enquiries despite appearing quite busy at the time - our thanks, Louise! Breakfast might be improved with the provision of a vegetarian option, but this was a minor blemish on an otherwise excellent stay. Absolutely excellent value for money." (99068637)
Clean, well presented, quietly styled. Lovely grounds.
Breakfast was a little ramshackle, the waiting staff seemed a little flustered. There was no formal breakfast option for vegetarians, though a quick fry up sans meat was cobbled together quickly!

"The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the Ribble valley and surrounding areas but is not in a totally rural setting. The hotel has a separate resturant facility which serves lunch and good quality evening meals. The inclusive breakfast was also above average. There is also a fantastic country pub within ten minutes walking distance, although I could not comment on the food. The hotel is situated at the entrance of an exclusive housing development and on return from the pub at around 11:00 pm, there were a number of youths making a scene, which was the only down side to our stay. We stayed in a suite which cost an extra £18 and was well worth it. It had a separate lounge and was clean, spacous and modern." (3305310341)

Clean, well equiped rooms, and friendly staff.
Noisey cleaners, started early and let the doors bang frequently and chatted loudly outside my door. I have stayed in this hotel before using active hotels and got a good rate without breakfast. Now the rate has increased and includes breakfast. Due to the timing of the surveys we do, it is not always possible to take advantage of the breakfast, and would be better value to be able to get the room at the lower rate with the chioce of breakfast optional.

Having booked on line it was really worrying that our reservation had not reached the hotel and by good fortune there was a room available. One blind missing from window (front of building, had to keep curtain closed for privacy. Light bulb over bed not working
