"the hotel was good value for money. it was clean and the staff were very helpful. they kept our bags for us after we had checked out so that we didn't have to drag them round with us - our ferry home was not until 5.30pm. the hotel was on a very quiet street but right by the bars and restaurants - excellent location." "Hotel is small and friendly. Diningroom beautifully decored for Christmas. Rooms clean and adequate. A good central stopover in Calais, near to car ferry and a good launch for travelling on into Europe once crossing the Channel." (97534647)

Central location, close to car ferry.

We were on the top floor, without a lift which was a little difficult with luggage but nothing that would stop us returning here. We would request a room on a lower floor.

"A small and basic hotel which was a good place for a stopover. " (97395115)

Our room for five had a double bed plus a modern bunk bed, the bottom of which folded out into another double bed. The children crawled under the bed on the vinyl-lay floor and didn't get dirty, so a very clean room! Very near to restaurants and bars and we were told our room card would get us in the front door late should we be late back.

No lift and we were on the third floor, ok for us but may be a problem for some people. Plus the parking seemed to be on the street.

Having stayed at the hotel in the past we were aware of its exellent location for ameneties in Callais. The hotel, which had been refurbished since our last stay, was spotlessly clean, with the room cleaned and beds remade every day.The young lady at the desk was friendly, efficient and spoke very good English. All told, the hotel is exellent for a short business or pleasure stay.

We stayed on the top floor, so a lift would have been useful.

"We had stayed at this hotel 6 years ago when there were different owners. The new owner has made some nice improvements and is planning more. The rooms may need some updating but they are comfortable and are cleaned and serviced to a high standard daily. We were a family of 7 aged between 16 and 77 so there was a good cross section of thoughts but no complaints were heard. The breakfasts suited all tastes and there was plenty to keep even the hungriest 16 year old happy. All in all a really good time was had by all." (99601483)

We had a four berth family room, comprising double bed, bunk beds and ensuite shower room. And the benefit of a superb view of the Calais lighthouse. The hotel was easy to find, within walking distance of many bars and restaurants." (97897431)

The breakfast was nice, I did miss not having any ham though. My wife and I were pleased we had picked this hotel." (99619489)

Very clean. The room was well decorated and we had a number of nights with a peaceful sleep.

"The fact that this hotel closes at 11pm should be made very clear. I ticked my time of arrival as after 10 pm and so thought there was no urgency. My ferry was delayed and I arrived at 1am to find the hotel closed. I rang the number and the manager answered the phone and then answered the door to me in her dressing gown and made it very clear that she was unhappy. I appreciate her letting us in at all as I read the small print afterwards. However I was on my way to my father's funeral and had travelled some distance through England to get to Dover and could have done without the frosty reception and the ear bashing that I got. I left at 7am and the reception was locked up - I had already said that I didn't want breakfast." (99819829)

  • 7/10 Penny (Family with older children)

    from London , United Kingdom;GB on  February 21, 2007

"The photographs posted on the web-site did not show the true rooms and were a bit mis-leading. The equipment in the rooms ie; television was obsolete, no cable and had only a few channels to choose from. No remote control for the television. The channels that were displayed were very snowy." (99760965)

    Staff was very friendly.

The rooms were a little two small for a family of four and the beds were very worn. There was not way to control the temperature in the room and it was overly hot during the night.

reasonably priced, good location to the local bars/resturants on a nighttime and also the ports from were you depart back to the u.k. and the friendly cat that my girlfriend liked.

overall it was preety good apart from having to try and make the shower work propley and in a fashion were it stayed still, and also the main ceiling light didnt work by using the main switch.

"Perfect hotel for a transit stopover. Large choice of restaraunts close by. Street parking proved fine. Breakfast and decor very much typical of small french hotels and will be charming and comfortable to those used to this but those new to it may feel it is dark and think the breakfast limited. We would have no hesitation booking again if travelling through Calais. Ged & Lynne." (3305239525)

"I would like to have known that we were gonna be put on the third floor or that there wasn't really space for a cot, seeing as i had enquired beforehand. Also the receptionist wasn't very welcoming as well as telling us there was a lift when there wasn't. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to another family, but would to a couple." (3305063314)

The TV had an English channel.

Although we had emailed in advance to say we have a baby and a travel cot, the room didn't really have adequate space for the travel cot and we were put up on the third floor which wasn't very good as we had the baby, cot, pram and all of our luggage to carry up as there was no lift. Not very thoughtful.
