"Friendly reception from hotel owners. Room excellent with large comfortable and impressive bed. Food available en-suite and well stocked mini-bar, but we chose to eat out as we needed the exercise. Plenty of accurate information available in room regarding local eating-out facilities which were within easy walking distance." (97583976)

    Clean, well presented room

"Stayed in the lovely Castle room again; very cozy with an enormous sleigh bed which is one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Val is a great host and makes you feel very welcome. Breakfast is varied and well cooked. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely stay at Allerton House." (97965454)

"Good. Room was quite special/romantic, and the lounge with the log fire was lovely and cosy. Home comforts of DVD and wireless internet were a nice touch." (97465379)

  • 9/10 Richard (Same sex couple)

from Witney , GB on  July 3, 2007

"The owners were very welcoming and chatty. The breakfast was excellent and the room and bathroom were luxurious and the bathroom is modern and stylish. On arriving, the front door was locked and I had to phone the owners on a mobile number provided on a laminated sheet in the porch to be let in as I couldn't make myself heard by ringing the door bell - a petty criticism." (99677112)

Spacious with good facilites. Hotel is well situated high up above the town

"Beautifully achitectured period house with ample parking and an unrivalled position and view over Jedburgh. Full and varied breakfast menu cooked to order. Slightly disappointed with the room as, to me, it looked faded (beige carpets and towels) though it was very comfortable and had free broadband wireless internet access which is very impressive." (3304394899)

Free wireless internet access, frieldly and informative staff.

Room looked a bit faded....bathroom didn't have a radiator only an electronic wall heater. Eggs at breakfast were a bit runny (but that's a personal preference and I should have said something!!)

We did have a little trouble finding Allerton House in the dark, but one phone call and we were guided in perfectly." (99096409)

Very Spacious and and well presented room, extremely comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and generous wardrobe.

Overly enthusiastic extractor fan in bathroom, sounds like a 747 landing in there.

    from Fochabers , United Kingdom;GB on  February 12, 2006

"Not long open so a few things still to be done but it is a superb place to stay. In particular the enthusiasm and welcome given to guests by the owners is outstanding. This must be a jewel in the crown of the area and can only get better. We will use it as our 'place to stay' when we make our journeys South." (3304177301)

An obvious effort had been made to make guests comfortable. Safe parking was good to have too.

Radiators in bathroom (I understand this will happen soon). There is of course heating now but the bathroom is big and spacious and needs that bit extra. This is a minor matter for everything else was fine.
