"We had an excellent stay in Nunsmere Hall. The whole experience was wonderful. The quality of the food at dinner was superb and the service in the restaurant was very good. Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order. One small negatgive, I personally did not like the breakfast bacon!" (99436647)

From the moment we stepped inside the door we got a feeling of welcome.

"We only arrived at 10.30 at night and were going to the race next day, Have no complaints. Had a very good breakfast and had to leave" (99989924)

Very nice rooms and friendly staff

"The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The bar offers an interesting selection of spirits, pricey though. Food was excellent and very good value for money. Our room was well furnished and the bed was comfortable so we had a good night's sleep. The location of the hotel makes it quiet and restful. Unfortunately our visit didn't allow time to look around the grounds which are lovely." (99147752)

The bed was extremely comfortable, lovely duvet and linen.

We wanted to catch a newsbulletin on the tv, no news channels! The shield for the shower leaked so the floor was very wet. Corridors and public rooms too warm, restaurant and bar doors to the garden were open even though it was a cool showery evening.

"We didn't use this stay to fully explore everything this fine Hotel has to offer, however we will be back in July and will do so then." (99405506)

The Hotel is well appointed, obviously a former country home, the Hotel's interior designer has made full use of every intimate part of the building, it's a lovely property set majesticlly on the banks of the lake, and if every room is as interesting as Hibiscus, then a treat await's all who visit Nunsmere Hall.

"Felt rested afterwards, but overall felt a little ripped off. Michelin star prices, but didn't deliver. My wife's main course too salty. Hotel too hot - stayed in early October, left windows open all night, still too warm. Brought to attention of staff in restaurant & at checkout and their reaction was 'Oh', and didn't even apologise!" (99110946)

Excellent location and building. Peaceful with good room. Good breakfast delivered to room (extra charge).

Staff very stuffy, no atmosphere. Food and drink very expensive.

  • 9/10 David ( Mature couple)

    from Greeba , United Kingdom;GB  on  August 2, 2006

"Perfect place for a quite getaway, very romantic and great for the more mature couple or couple looking for a weekend away from the children. The food was first class, and the staff could not be more helpful. Eating out on the terrace was a wonderful experience late in the evening given the good weather." (3304960630)

Perfect surroundings, easy access to Chester. Lovely large rooms and very polite staff.

Third floor rooms have little or no view, as the weather was very hot, the room had not been aired prior to our arrival and was like a sauna, air conditioning would enhance the comfort of the rooms during hot and humid periods.

"The whole experience was wonderful. If there were any areas for improvement it would be that the food was quite expensive in the restaurant." (3304979379)

Lovely grounds, wonderful room and excellent service.
