"Great stay, I'd recommend this hotel!" (97844051)
The hotel is excellent, the rooms are spacious. All the staff were pleasant, particularly the woman who checked us in.
The lack of a lift - understandable as the hotel is a listed building and no restaurant for lunch/dinner.

"The hotel is lovely and was in a great location. Our room was really big and the bathroom clean and modern. We really enjoyed our stay here." (99260710)
The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. It was in a great location, walking distance to the main centre and had a nice feel to it.
It was quite a climb to the top floor!

"This hotel was in a good location within walkable distance of the city centre. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have any problems for the entire length of our stay. I would recommend this hotel and would definately stay here again." (99071511)
Appearance, cleanliness, staff
The power shower was a bit temperamental.

"Lovely hotel ,Friendly staff, although not scottish, great position.will use this hotel again ,also will recomend it to others." (3305020919)
The position of the hotel was perfect for us.Within walking distance of Princess street and Murrayfield for the rugby.
One couple of our party of 4 couples room was opposite reception and they found it noisy when residents were ringing the door bell to get in late at night.

"The name of the hotel has changed, which was disconcerting on arrival. The location is good - a Georgian crescent - and convenient for central Edinburgh. The hotel is comfortable and well, and newly, decorated. I was asked to change rooms after one night. I didn't get a very clear explanation why, but the second room was better than the first so I didn't mind. The TV was not up to much, but not a problem for me. It's a long walk up stairs to the top of the hotel where my room was located; I wouldn't recommend it for the frail or unfit. The breakfast was ordinary, although a cooked breakfast could be ordered the day before. The staff were friendly." (3304915254)
Very spacious room in excellent decorative order, with a good view, and friendly staff
Continental breakfast was very average

"The hotel was lovely, modernised and staff friendly. Breakfast was a bit spartan and lacked a choice of fruit (continental)but would definitely stay again. Ther is no dinner served, but restaurants were nearby. It was very quiet, warm and the standard of cleanliness was very high." (97281758)
/l01arge, sp0/acious accommodation. Strong power shower with plenty of h/ot wat9er. 91Warm bathroom and well fitted out. The wallpaper /was 039/da0ted, which was a shame as it did not fit with the furnishings.5
The hotel staff were overly friendly and some invaded personal space. I saw one business man couldn't put a spoon into his mouth at breakfast because the manageress was hovering over him. She then sat at his table!I feel that they thought solo travellers needed company and were over-compensating.
