"Quirky and interesting. Would be a good stop for a ghosthunters visit!!!!!!!!!!" (97994463)

A very quaint historical building oozing with character. The mongolian feast buffet was exceptional value for money and great fun!!!

VERY small room with no room for hanging suits etc. VERY small door leading into the bathroom which was also suffering from VERY low ceiling height...but then it's a 16th century house so what did I expect???

"Not one of the better hotels we have stayed in. All I can say that it was a'Fawlty Towers' experience" (97710890)

Although the room was advertised as having a jacuzzi, it didn't work, and apparently had not been in working order for some time. Continental Breakfast consisted of a packet of carnflakes, longlife milk, bread that had been left overnight in a breadbin and butter that had been left out all night.

"A place to avoided at all cost. Sleep in your car - it will be a better experience!" (107228975)

    Absolutely None

This is the worst accomodation I have stayed in probably twenty years. The staff were ill informed, lacking in communication skils, interest or proficiency. The room was damp, the beds creaking, the walls thin enough to hear next door neighbours. The continental breakfast wasn't ready- no spoons or plates, no bowls for the cereal. Long life warm milk,no coffee and no staff present. Take this terrible place off your web site. This is a complete heap and nobody should think of spending their hard earned money in such a disgraceful, smelly establishment. The customer comment book shows how the recent occupants feel about the place - rubbish! The owners are seemingly quite happy to have all of these negative comments on show. By nature i am not a complainant, unfortunately i had to be away from the accommodation at 7.30am for business reasons so I couldn't make my feelings known to the staff personally. as there was nobody there, I couldn't have done so anyway!

"Nowhere near worth £100! £30 would be generous. Very disappointed." (97008776)

We could not get hold of anyone by ringing the bell or phoning in order to check in. We eventually found a manager of a pub across the road who had a key and access to check us in at about 3pm (we wanted to see if we could get an early check in. The room was tiny. Looked like it had not been properly cleaned for some time. Main light did not work. Light in the bathroom did not work - we had to put a lamp in the bathroom. Bad reception on a poor quality TV. The bed was cheap and not what we expected for £100 per night. I was charged for my stay back in April but I did not stay until August!!! Only saw one member of staff who was pleasant enough but not able to address any of our concerns, and we did not see the manager either day. No bread for toast!!!

"Awful and would never stay again!" (97068074)

The rooms were really decorative and quirky but really need some DIY!

There was nobody in charge and the staff that were there spoke little English and didn't know the answer to half of our questions. There was also a night club downstairs which we didn't know about and that went on until 2am then people poured into the streets making noise til about 3am. The breakfast was poor, and on one morning they had ran out of toast and sausages. We failed to see how our stay was worth £100 per night when there was a beautiful B&B next door offering quality accommodation for £60 per night.

"Awful!!! We are angry we have paid £65 for a terrible room & poor service. We would probably not book a hotel through yell.com again." (97288658)

none apart from being close to the wedding reception venue we attended

Bathroom dirty, bath didn't work properly, mattress on bed lumpy able to feel springs in it. had tea & coffee making facilities in room but the kettle was filthy!unaware it was attatched to a nightclub! staff unhelpful & rude check-in staff spoke very little english which made it hard to check-in. Hotel seemed dirty & dis organised in general. continental breakfast was a small bowl of cereal, full english breakfast missed out most ingredients we were told they hadn't bothered ordering them!! The cleaner served us breakfast in between cleaning the hotel which we feel is very un hygenic & there were no other staff there. We felt like we were too much trouble.

I had to pay for the best room but was not given it. No showers in bathroom. No-one on checking out at 8:30 so couldn't get my promised discount for messing up the rooms. Do not answer phone since I have been trying to call them

"Very good, would happily stay there again" (108059020)

Hotel was great, as was the room. Good atmosphere, friendly staff.

The staff were not aware of my booking, but thankfully the room was free. But this reflects badly on the internet booking service rather than the hotel itself.

"I enjoyed my stay very much, and would definitely stay again. Althoug it was quite spooky!!" (97059934)

The rooms were beautiful, arranged to fit in with the historic features. The breakfast was very tasty, and we were made aware on our arrival that we were entitled to a free drink due to us staying for the evening which I thought was nice. The staff were very friendly and the accommodation was also very comfortably heated.

    No allocated parking

"An interesting old place but only casual bar staff there who were busy preparing for parties. The noise of parties goers at 2.30am each morning." (97581368)

the room was warm and bed comfortable

No staff around. Noisy parties at night. No choice of breakfast. Locked out with wrong key given. Broken toilet seat.

    disorganised staff, uncomortable bed

"Evening meal good, but had to wait at least 1/2hr for desert, having chased them up twice. At breakfast no one to greet us in Dining room. Wandered about looking to see what we had to do. No cereal, had to ask for it, then had to ask for milk & then tea, as only coffee on display. Asked for bill & had to wait whilst they got manager up to give it to us. After defaulting two of our Credit cards, we had to go to cash machine to pay him. It was their machine not our cards." (99207536)

Very Old & authentic. Had lots of character. Good food.

No light bulb in one of the bedrooms in which we kept out clothes. No blinds/curtains to the windows except muslin to the front window. (See through). Evening meal included, but not desert, not mentioned in write up on internet. Nowhere to hang clothes. No Car park, but no warning of this either.

"we found the staff very accomadating on our arrival, although they were busy doing other things, we weren't left waiting to long to check-in.the food there was of good quality. it was nice to sit in such old surroundings and ponder what life might have been like here nearly 500 years ago. the only disappointment was the fact that not one of the alleged 10 resident ghosts made an appearance. thanks to Tom and his staff for a relaxing couple days." (99538762)

i liked the fact that it was nearly 5oo years old, and there are supposed to be resident ghosts there.[didn't see any though].the room was nice and cosy and comfortable, except for the low beams[MIND YE HEAD!!!].

had to have the bed fixed when we arrived it was a bit 'wobbly'. the wardrobe door would only open so far because of the low beam.

    Novelty, 4 poster, old-fashioned.

    no internet, poor TV.

The quaintness of the place. Can be romantic. Our room was booked, but they upgraded us at no extra cost.

All seemed disorganised at times, a bit to casual about things

"Didn't know what to expect when we arrived. It was a last minute booking 2 days before new years eve but turned out to be the best new years eve ever. Great place, lovely staff, good food. The bedroom was brilliant, huge four poster bed, plenty of space, everything we needed. After a great night out it was the perfect place to go back to and we woke up to a nice cooked breakfast in the morning. Excellent value for money, very unusual place, it made our new years eve extra special." (99891142)

Beautiful building, unusual but very lovely room, great cooked breakfast in the morning, friendly and helpful staff.

thin walls but thats to be expected in such an old building.
