"Friendly/helpful staff; excellent non-greasy English breakfast. As it was a one night stay, I hadn't worried about expectations etc." (97104852)
Reasonably comfortable and had everything needed.
Access to rooms outside; slight damp smell. My son in Room 16 unable to get hot water.

"we would like to have had more information about the town itself and what amenities were to offer. but we did enjoy looking around the town at the old type of cottages that were there. the staff at the hotel were lovely and friendly and made you feel welcome. the food was excellent and they always served a good pint of cask ale." (97091684)
we liked the cottage feeling and it was welcoming

The beds were some of the most comfortable that we have ever slept in. The facilities in the room were fairly basic but the radiators heated up in minutes and the room was warm and comfortable
People walking past our room (we were in the stable block) could see in quite clearly if we did not have the curtains drawn. The general colour of the bedlinen was not really conducive to providing an overall appearance of freshness (it was a burgundy colour and looked a bit dusty and faded)

"A pleasant place to stay, wonderfully located in a pretty town. Benefits from a particularly efficient and friendly staff. Good value if you're not paying the full advertised rate; probably less good value if you do. The breakfasts are excellent; the restaurant meals rather unoriginal, but evidently hit the spot with the locals." (99505498)
Comfortable, clean, what you'd expect from an unpretentious small country inn. Bathrooms excellent.
Furniture and decor clean and tidy, but rather dated and sombre. Room lighting too dim.

"Very pleasant hotel in a lovely village. Would like to have had some idea that there were traditional rooms in the main hotel (which we would have much preferred) as well as more modern ones by the car park which had no character and were noisy as they adjoined the kitchen. Otherwise the hotel was very pleasant and we found the staff helpful and friendly with the exception of the person on check-in who seemed completely disinterested and who walked ahead while we struggled with our bags through the narrow doorways. We think that this gentleman should be made aware of the effect on customers of an unfriendly and unhelpful welcome on arrival. Despite this we enjoyed our stay and would re-book if we are again in the area." (97778072)
The friendliness of the staff
The check-in. Room at back door of kitchen
