"The evening we arrived we went for a stroll. There has been a lot of development around the area in recent years, with a few more hotels. The neon sign oon the Kyriad had only the first three letters working. This seemed to sum things up - not a lot of care was being taken, at some level. Adequate for an overnight stay, so maybe time for us to check out the opposition. " (107117556)

Good security for the parking area, friendly staff and lots of parking.

Unpleasant odour in the room and hallway.Room on the small side and the cups for hot drinks are small, plastic and barely adequate for the job.Our room had some discolouration in the corner ,probably a little damp problem.

"Stress free overnight stay, good meals - breakfast and dinner. My meal was suberb for the price. Abilty to have a fixed price for one two or three courses from a good range of options was very good value for money. Would certainly go back again." (97048601)

Warm welcome, comfortable room, pleasant area, not noisy. Ideal for a stopover on the way into France, or just a day in Calais. Very close to Eurotunnel!

It would be good to have had extra coffee, tea and milk available for the courtesy tray in the room.

"Still very good value for money but if I stay there next year and find more cost cutting I will be looking elsewhere." (99500647)

Friendly staff, good secure parking, convenient for both Channel crossing and Calais Hypermarkets. Overall value for money. Evening meal menue limited for choice but excellent value for money.

Stayed ther last year and I thought some corners had been cut over staffing levels. One person trying to run both reception and service the dining room was just not enough, particularly at breakfast when coffee and food ran out and some guests had nothinng to drink and only bread & cheese to eat.

"Other than points referred to above, our stay was very enjoyable." (108026075)

Attitude of staff; Good food; Proximity to Eurotunnel terminal.

Maintenance required in bedroom and bathroom; radiator hanging off wall, main light not working, toilet seat cover fallen off. Also need additional signposting from Cité de l'Europe to hotel.

"Hotel was ok for the cost but if I book it again we will not order breakfast" (97153847)

It was well situated and had easy access to eurotunnel

The breakfast was very poor for the price At 8 30 bread was already stale and water for tea was cold.

"We had a good visit as we knew what to expect and were prepared for the room and bathroom to be small. Everything in the room worked fine and the Dinner was very good. We gave a poor review for our first visit but this experience was fine. We would probably use the hotel again for an overnight stop. We must have been unfortuneate in the room we were allocated on our first visit and problems could have been resolved by Reception." (97129964)

The room was basic and small but comfortable. Dinner was excellent - nicely cooked and reasonable price.

  • 5/10 Moira (Mature couple)

from Leeds , GB on  March 25, 2008

"I notified the hotel that I was claustraphobic and the accommodation was therefore not really suitable for me. I would have appreciated information from the hotel informing me that the rooms were so small and that the windows were also small, so that I had the option to change my booking to a more suitable hotel. We had a second visit on our return journey and I coped better as I knew what to expect. On the 13th I found it difficult to sleep as the room was so small, plus we were very cold as the heater did not work properly. It kept switching off before the room got warm. We were both very chilled Extra blankets would have been useful. On our second visit, we had a different room, where the heater worked fine - we were able to get the room comfortably warm and had a much better night and had a very pleasant stay. The dinner was excellent - nicely cooked and good value. The breakfast (only taken on the first visit) was poor. We did not feel our French was good enough to complain on our first visit about the room, and the press of people around the Reception area made it difficult to have a quiet conversation." (97440732)

    It was a convenient location

The room and bathroom were very small. The heater did not work and the kettle lid was broken.

  • 9/10 Graham (Mature couple)

from Westward ho! , GB on  March 3, 2008

"We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone for a short stay. Everything was clean, and the staff very welcoming. However, despite the fact that tea/coffee facilities were in the room, I wish hotels, not just this one, would recognise that one might like more than just one drink in their room during there stay. This is not a complaint, just an observation. Well done Kyriad" (97066648)

We found the hotel excellent value for money. Such a welcome change to find tea/coffee facilities in the room - so different from most other hotels of this type.

Our stomachs are not accustomed to rich French foods, and whilst the food itself was excellently cooked and presented, we feel perhaps the range on the menu could be extended to cover a wider variety of tastes.

"Hekpful and friendly staff. Convienient for the Eurotunnel and Ferries as well as the Motorways to other parts of France and the Low Countries." (97860505)

A little bit cramped but acceptable.

  • 8/10 Raymond (Mature couple)

from Chatham , GB on  February 27, 2008

"Good value for money but hotel was a bit old and used,so to speak, but apart from the carpets was clean and the staff polite. The flat screen TV'S in the room was very good and brand new. Would be happy to stay their for a night or two again.Ideal for that kind of mini break if on a budget." (97908205)

it was quite cosy and very well located near and large shoping centre, also a short bus ride to town centre or a 30 minute walk.

the carpets in the corridors were needed cleaning, strangly enough in contrast to the rest of the hotel which was a bit tired but very clean.

  • 3/10 Maureen (Mature couple)

from Hythe , GB on  February 20, 2008

"Very disappointing. Generally Kyriad can be relied upon to provide good quality accommodation. This was our first time in Cocquelles and will be our last. The non-functioning internet caused me great problems as I rely on using it for my work during the evenings. Altogether a less than adequate hotel." (97103979)

    locality and price

very cramped room, tiny bathroom almost unusable due to space, non-functioning internet (which was very important for my work)

"Our 4th overnight stay at this hotel over 3 years. Although the room and bathroom is on the small side they are clean, warm and practical with tea making facilities. The staff are friendly and speak English, evening meal is inexpensive and of good quality with the option to vary from 1 to 3 courses and a choice of 4 main courses. For an overnight as part of a French holiday or as a shopping weekend overnight it is well situated and reasonably priced. We will certainly use it again." (97466496)

I don't want to unload all my luggage from my car , if I am staying one night and therefore I look for hotels with good car park security." (99524114)

"This hotel was conveniently placed for getting to the Car Ferry Port the following morning. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was all right but we ordered pommes frites and got baked potato. We were too tired to complain - we had travelled 800km that day. There is only one 'casual' table for having a drink before dinner and that was in the dining room. Breakfast was not included in the price and was adequate." (99190473)

We chose the hotel because it was close to the Ferry Port.

The room was in a poor state. The main light did not work, the lid of the toilet seat fell off, the bathroom was far too small.

It was very convenient to the Channel Tunnel portal

Taht we were unable to get breakfast before we left. The Tunnel opens at 6 am and there was no breakfast available at that time and as there is no food facilities on the train it was some hours before we could eat.
