"Excellent location in the centre of Boulogne sur Mer; hotel car park was a worthwhile expense (only 9 Euros per night) and meant we had no worries about the car. The good position meant it was easy to step outside for breakfast at several cafes at a cost of less than the 9 Euros the hotel charged (we think paying 9 Euros for three people for three nights which was 81 Euros was a bit steep)" (97887388)

Clean and pleasant reception staff who were extremely helpful.

Like others - we wish there had been tea and coffee making equipment. The hotel didn't serve tea and coffee in the daytime/evening so they would not lose business if they had provided facilities.

"The hotel was really nice but if i had to visit Boologne again i would want to stay in the fortified town (personal choice). There are lots of cafes and shops nearby and very convienient. If the hotel was located in the fortified town I would definately stay again." (108070680)

The room was clean and spacious and very welcoming. Staff spoke excellent english awere very helpful.

there was no tea/coffee in the room and the car park was a little inconvienient but felt very secure

"Everything was great except the Bed which is the most important thing." (97549265)

Very Good Hotel, Very Clean and well decorated.

The bed had a uneven mattress which ruined our nights sleep.

"Would use this hotel again as it was in such a great spot. Lots of bars and restaurants close by. The car parking was a great asset, and we would strongly recommended using a Google map search for directions when you leave the ferry. Its a little tricky to find, but with our map it was pretty easy. The car park is just tucked away behind the theatre and is very secure. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The room was clean, but needed updating with the decor and colour scheme. Other than that, its a big 'thumbs up'." (97416288)

Great location. friendly staff. Great car parking facility

Decor could do with modernising a little, and tea and coffee in the rooms would have been nice

"the only quibble was that the bathroom door was a glass panel and see- through with no lock." (97881966)

Centrally located right in the heart of the shopping area. the hotel was small and the service felt quite personal

"car parking issue. otherwise comfortable stay, and value for money." (99237865)

value for money, very central and accessible to many restaurants and bars, reception staff were excellent. Did pay extra for breakfast which we found good value for money, and served in an elegant dining room, on good china, by a very pleasant lady.

Did not know we had to book a car parking space, this caused some difficulty. No bevrage tray in room which should be a must. Also feel drinks could be served in the dining/sitting room overlooking the garden, which would have been a bonus especially for my elderly parents who were exhausted and did not want to leave the hotel, but would have liked a drink. The dining/sitting area is so lovely it is a shame it is not used more.

The Friendliness of all staff. The Car parking facility with it's security and convenience. I would add that my wfe and I have stayed with you before which is why we came again with my wife's brother and his wife from Australia. (I do like being able to boil my own eggs in the dining room.)

I cannot find anything to say.

Convenient location to Boulogne Port. 24 hour front desk made late arrival at midnight easy. Secure indoor parking a major plus when travelling with luggage and bikes.

"The hotel staff were very pleasant. The hotel was centrally located and would be ideal for a longer break. It was very close to the port, so we parked our car at the port and had a short 10 minute walk to make. The rooms were extremely nicely laid out and very clean. Breakfast was continental and was worth the extra money." (99206594)

hotel is close to the center

    the breakfast is over priced

  • 9/10 Anonymous ( Family with young children)

Hotel was in a great location, staff were gracious and very helpful and rooms were reasonable in size for a city based hotel. 12 noon check out is very generous and the breakfast was excellent - particularly for France where breakfasts are often minimal in nature.

  • 8/10 Jack ( Group of adult friends)

from Brighton , GB  on  May 15, 2007

"This is a very good hotel in the commercial pedestrianised part of the town and just five minutes walk to the walled part of town. There is first class secure parking available, but this should be booked in advance. The reception desk staff are very helpful and speak good English. The rooms are small but well laid out, although the bathrooms seem rather tired. We were disappointed to be given a twin bedded room, when we believed we had booked a double." (99225652)

Excellent central location, good secure parking, good breakfast and very helpfull staff.

Bathroom was poorly laid out and the bathroom door and shower door were rather decrepit.

from Yeovil , GB  on  April 25, 2007

"Very well situated for town, and although central not noisy at night. Hotel sign right outside our window very bright for most of night! Secure parking around the corner in their own garage should be mentioned in the info as it's brilliant for peace of mind with a car full of shopping, park nearby first then get the access code from reception. Clean, well maintained, staff very helpful and cheerful. After walking past some of the other hotels on offer we were very glad we booked here!" (99616650)

Clean, comfortable, well situated. Useful safe.

thin curtains and bright hotel sign meant little night time darkness. Not much room for clothes storage.

small rooms and limited TV viewing in English

  • 8/10 David ( Mature couple)

    from Huntingdon , United Kingdom;GB  on  April 4, 2007

"The hotel is situated in the centre of town (not in the walled part), so that as soon as you walk out of the door you are in amongst the cafes and shops. Even though we overlooked the shops the room was stil quiet at night. There are some very nice restaurants close by and the harbour is five minutes walk one way, the old town 10 mins stroll the other way. The room was small, but clean and tidy. The secured parking was very useful." (99738375)

Central location and provision of secure parking space. Friendly staff.

  • 9/10 Joanne ( Young couple)

from Banstead , GB  on  March 28, 2007

"This is a wonderful hotel for an overnight or weekeend break in Northern France. We were able to do a big shop on Saturday, park in secure parking, walk to the square for a lovely meal, stumble back after too much wine and sleep well! We were back at home by early afternoon on Sunday ready to pick up the kids wondering whether it was all a dream!" (99024654)

The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly. Excellent position to walk to good resturants. Chez Jules in the square wonderful!

    Noisy seagulls in the morning!!

"We had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Metropole. as I believe someone else commented in there review it is a little tricky to get to through the one way traffic system. The hotel does have a private garage (9 euros per day) that we found very useful. The staff were very helpful, suggesting restaurants to try and lending an umbrella to keep us dry. There are some super shops in Boulogne and some lovely old buildings. The only down side of our trip was keeping a watchful eye for the dog mess under foot and the numerous beggars at every street corner." (99176463)

A very pleasant and friendly hotel for a short break.

  • 9/10 Philip ( Mature couple)

    from Boston , United Kingdom;GB  on  March 5, 2007

"As above stated - better directions would have been useful particularly in view of all the one way streets. Have noted the hotel and look forward to staying there again." (99482697)

Central to the town, good car parking facilities, good breakfast, value for money, pleasant staff.

    Faulty door to the bathroom.

    Quiet and nice size

TV was too small and no tea/coffee making facilities
