"Very poor value overall. Novotel is much better for children and a lot cleaner. " (97242643)
Convenient for tunnel
Bed side lights covered in dust. Too few pillows for 4 guests. (very thin and saggy) TV had fuzzy picture on nearly every channel. TV remote not working properly. Hair dryer broken. Pool attendant too officious for young children Fixtures and fittings tired - particularly in bathroom. (fusty shower curtain). No facilities for young children like play park, indoor toys etc

"Overall pleasant experience. Would certainly stay here again. Evening meal/choice adequate and of good quality. Breakfast offers good choice with hot food available. Staff friendly and helpful. Plentiful free parking and good access to motorway/Eurotunnel." (97287597)
Clean & convenient to Eurotunnel. Being outside of Calais, parking not a problem.
A bit 'dead' in the evening

Perfectly placed for the tunnel. Good sized room.
Limited time for use of pool. Breakfast on the first morning - not fully restocked following a large party.

"Everything about my stay in calais which I cut to one night instead of the booked 2 nights was spoiled by the heat and lack of air. there was no airconditioning operating and it could not be switched on , there were no fans, windows could only be opened a small way , and as there was no wind ,it was impossible to work or be comfortable in the room. in leaving the window open I was woken again and again by trucks arriving to remove rubbish at 5.45 am 6.30 am and one lorry drove into the site to collect a coil of wire from another vehicle before leaving noisily again at 6.30 outside my window. The staff seemed to have no understanding - blaming the weather being hot!! they didnt even attempt to offer an apology. The inside of the hotel , corridors and rooms were much hotter than outside the hotel and efforts should have been made to open outside widows, get fans brought in and repair the airconditionning . the situation had been going on since Thursday May 1st I was there Sunday . I found a much more amenable place to stay with a sea breeze and half the price free toilietries and better refreshment tray. My plan had been to arrive Sunday afternoon which I did and stay until Tuesday morning ,and to finish off a lot of work on my computer before returning to UK. I could not work in the room as it was just too airless and hot." (97347641)

"Good - we have stayed here beofre on our return from holiday - it is very convenient." (97019349)
Excellent breakfast (included in room price); excellent sized swimming pool; good sized, clean room; safe parking.
More informaion in room regarding the pool and leisure facilities - why should we have to contact reception? It should be printed and available with other hotel info.

"Not a bad hotel but some area's could be improved upon." (107110751)
Check-in and service was good overall.
For the 2nd consecutive stay in the hotel the fridge was not working & had to be replaced, and the bathroom was a little gruby, the hotel is also slightly overpriced compared to other hotels within the local area.

"Will look for some where else next time passing through Calais, however I have lived in Calais and stayed in most of the hotels for many months in the past and the Holiday Inn at Coquelles is probably the best at the moment." (97109191)
Nice room, good reception staff
Air Con not cooling in room, and restuarant food expensive for what it was.

"apart from the booking process, we were very satisfied." (108098332)
Location, cleanliness, helpful staff.
Curious pricing, where the price goes up for a double booking rather than a single booking paying a premium. We are used to simple pricing per room. In the end we booked through a separate website and got a reduced price.

"An easy start and end to a French holiday at a reliable hotel, but a bit pricey and slightly down at heel." (97564950)
Quiet room, easy to get to from Channel tunnel, few minutes drive from a good beach, pleasant staff, excellent breakfast.
Carpets, chair covers, bedspreads and other soft furnishings in the room and public areas were stained and/or dirty.

"Since the hotel has changed to the Holiday Inn Group the standards appears to be dropping each time I visit. I now find myself looking for other hotels in the area for future stays in France. Very disappointing considering our visit was to celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary." (97821513)
Good size of room and close to shuttle.
No heating in bathroom over one of the coldest weekends of the year. When I mentioned this to the staff they brought a stand alone electric heater unfortunately it did not work and so I gave up at that stage and left the bathroom door open so the heat from the room could warm the bathroom. Not what I would expect from this standard of hotel.I have stayed at this hotel many times and feel each time I visit the standard appears to drop in some area.

"The two rooms we had were so hot we had to open the window all night (in March). We turned the heating off and the air con on but it was not operating. There were no bars on the low window so our dog could have jumped out during the night. We all awoke with bad headaches. When we advised the Manageress about the air con she told us that it is not switched on until April. I think a 4 star hotel should have 4 star facilities throughout the whole year. It is just a new hotel so I suppose the insulation meets all the new requirements with the result that the rooms are airless boxes. We ordered the best steak on the menu and it was inedible, being very chewy. The plate was also piled high with more chips than one would feed a family of 4! In the defence of the kitchen it was late and the kitchen closed in half an hour but not an experience I would want to repeat." (97051263)
Quiet situation with views
The room was extremely hot (March). The meal in the restaurant was inedible. The Manageress was unprofessional.

"Bathroom - very dirty, handrail in bath loose and black stuff dripping down from the brackets. The rubbish bin still had rubbish in it from previous occupants, the bath/shower taps were so dirty I could scrap the dirt off with my finger nail. AC not working, two small towels not nice big bath towels. The sheets had a very strange smell about them almost musty and damp. All in all I was very disappointed in my stay. I left the questionaire sheet filled out, I suggest an iron and board would be useful. The restuarant could not offer everything on the dinner menu." (97500173)

Location
I have been visiting this hotel for 10 years and it could do with refreshing. For €100+ per night it could be much better. In particular the bar facility, it takes for ever to get a drink as you have to go and find someone to serve you.

"The cleanliness of the pool and its changing rooms leaves alot to be desired." (97417389)
The staff were very friendly and very helpful, the hotel is in a nice area and the views (garden etc) were lovely.
The Hotel has obviously not been re-furbished for some time, seats in lounge area very stained and shabby, our bedroom looked like it could do with a refurb, bedding carpets etc. were very stained, but clean. (could this be because it was a smoking room?)

"There was adequate on site car parking facilities and a balance of amenities appropriate to the tarrif paid, the rooms were large and the en suite facilities (particuarly the shower) was very good. There is a warm atmosphere to the hotel with attentive staff and the state of internal decoration/maintenance was pleasing and comfortable. In the summer months the rooms have air conditioning which is a further comfort feature. Its location, on the outskirts of the town might be seen as a negative point but travel into the town by taxi is inexpensive. The restaurant had a limited but non-the-less good menu at reasonable prices." (97963529)
Quiet, safe location with the right balance of amenities contained in the hotel, with friendly and attentive staff.

The hotel is convenient for us to visit out of season sea side places e.g. Wissant, Wimereoux, Ambleteuse. We will always check on special offers at Cocquelles that provide two or three nights at competitive rates. We have stayed on several occasions over the past 10 years." (97660750)

"Hotel conveniently located for Eurotunnel and easy to find; illuminated hotel sign visible from motorway. Rooms not large but served their purpose; found them a bit bare of decoration, furniture quite worn but everything clean and in good order. Generous breakfast buffet (this was included in the Eurotunnel Special we booked!): lovely croissants, baguette, etc. and good cold selection (meats, cheese, fruit, cereals, etc.); but our advice is to stear clear of the cooked English breakfast; horrible scrambled egg ... Evening meal acceptable but did not live up to our expectations of French cuisine; probably a lot of convenience foods used in the kitchen. Considering that, a la carte eating there is too expensive! We chose the hotel because of our dog and were dissapointed that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant or breakfast room." (97498931)
Travelling with a dog, the well-lit lawns (surrounded by fence) around the hotel were very convenient.
Unlike most French hotels, our dog was not allowed in the restaurant or breakfast room - we had to eat outside on the piazza (part of the hotel foyer) or in the (open) bar.

"I like to stay here becuase of the convenient location - but feel overcharged and dissatisfied on a number of things-" (97174507)
bathrooms and bedrooms very clean and spacious , beds extremely comfortable
breakfast poor quality, restaurant good but expensive with no reasonably priced alternative - if you had good quality reasonably priced bar meals you would get more money ... we ate out all the time I always ask for 1 of a particular mumber of rooms. You have a s'pecial request ' section on your reservations ...my impression is that this is never looked at by the hotel..as the requests are never fulfilled ( and I have asked many times ) and never even referred to at check in. I find that very frustrating. I travel abroad frequently for business and feel that the cost of this hotel is very high for the level of service in terms of the food quality and choice.
