    "Me hubiera gustado saber que no tiene ascensor y que huele a comida en las habitaciones." (97914686)

    El trato del personal del hotel es un punto a su favor, y la relativa cercanía a la zona centro.

    A pesar de estar todo recién pintado, hay un olor insoportable a comida al subir a las habitaciones, se queda impreganado en la ropa de cama.El desayuno es pésimo.

    "Después de cambiar 3 veces de habitación, al final me dieron una en la 1ª planta (sótano bajo el nivel de la calle) y en la que no pude abrir la ventana porque habían colocado un gran espejo delante de ella. El hotel necesita en mi opinión una reforma total; no es suficiente disponer de habitaciones ensuite si las ventanas, el ascensor, las zonas comunes y los pasillos permanecen igual que hace años."     I have been allocated to a different room without knowing. WHen I arrived at the hotel someone had his/her bag in my room. They got rid of my toothpaste and toothbrush. THe assistant guaranteed that the Hotel would refund some money to cover for this loss but they never did. So if you could please get in contact with me I would ver much appreciate.

    Close to everything needed for a stay in Edinburgh. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

    The room we had was at the front and the city comes alve very early. Ask for a room at the back if you want a lie in!

    "Everything you could need for an overnight stay in central Edinburgh. You can see the Playhouse from the street outside this hotel, the location is fantastic for a night out and a bed for the night. Everything is very clean which is all you need, but remember if staying longer, its not luxourious and is a 2 star hotel, with a cracking price for this location if all you need is basics. If you are lucky enough to get a room not in the chip fat section, it would be even better. But its not too bad, because the smell is just in the corridor and stairwell, you cannot smell it from inside the room. Would stay again, if we are having a night out in Edinburgh. It has a much lower price than the other hotels in a great location." (107170186)

    Friendly staff, quick check-in, Clean comfy bed, clean bathroom/shower area, fresh clean towels, powerful shower,large clean room. Fantastic central location.

    Very tired look, in need of modernization and a freshen up decor wise. The corridor and stairwell to get to our double room (213) smelt really really strongly of old chip fat grease.

    Room cleanliness poor, sound proofing was totally inadequate(road noise), facilities poor and breakfast was terrible. we will not be staying at this hotel again.

    Room very clean. Lovely strong shower. Good location of hotel

    Large damp patch on ceiling above bed. Over-powering smell of fried food in our room coming from "Chicken Cottage" next to hotel. This was so unpleasant and made our clothes etc smell. I'm afraid this has spoilt the whole experience of our stay.

    Hotel is in centre and handy for nightlife

    £58 per night for single rooom for facilities is overpriced but this is possibly due more to central location. Breakfast could have done with more choice especially cooked variety.

    The staff were very helpful. I liked my room. I liked the warren-like architecture of the building. It was basic but that was all I wanted. I liked the hot breakfasts. It was good value for money. I slept well without disturbance.

    The radio in my room didn't work.

    The hotel is in an excellent location and was in walking distance to all that we were doing. It is cheap and with breakfast included you don't have to walk around first thing in the morning.

    The reception staff were a bit slow - there was several staff members present who seemed not to be doing anything yet we were kept us waiting. Our room was in the extended part, above a fast food take away - there was incredible heat in the corridor and you could smell the food. This carried onto our clothes.

    "Central location is ideal and the hotel is good value for money. Very adequate for a short stay, especially if you get rooms facing the back as we did, instead of the busy street." (97409724)

    Friendly staff, central location, good price, organisation at breakfast.

    Window fixture broken meaning window could not be shut; hallway on way to room was hot and full of cooking smells due to a broken extractor which couldn't be fixed until after the weekend.

    Accommodation was O'k taken into account **status of the hotel

    Hotel in general not like picture on web site,giving false impression, Shower and bath not cleaned very well, curtain rail in bed room coming away from wall, Horrible smell of cooking on landing area.

    "If like us, you are planning to see a show, and go out for a meal this hotel is in an ideal location. It was clean but basic, which was adequate for our one night stay. If you were planning on staying for longer than a weekend I would look elsewhere as the room was not comfortable enough to spend any length of time in.     "The facilities were clean and adequate - my room overlooked the main road so traffic noise made it difficult to get a good, uninterrupted sleep - ckeck in/out was quick and simple - the room could have done with a little bit of TLC but you get what you pay for and the price was extremely reasonable."     "The single room provided was quite small, but adequate for an overnight stay. It was high and distant from the hotel entrance, had a damp patch on the wall and was in need of redecoration but the sheets were clean and in good condition; two good towels and soap were provided but no other toiletries. The shower-room (no bath) was small but clean. There was a long wait before hot water flowed to the shower in the evening but a supply was much quicker in the morning. The open shower door dripped water onto the floor - providing a towel to stand on would have been useful. Breakfast (taken at 8.00am) included choice of fruit juices and cereals, yoghurt, bacon, scrambled egg and beans, toast, tea and/or coffee." (97140114)

    Room was more than adaquate, new carpet, large clean bathroom,good full breakfast. Great budget hotel.

    A maze trying to find room for the first time but once we found it - was easier to find the next time.

    Where it was in Edinburgh in relation to my reason for being there. The price of a single bed. Could adjust the extraordinarily hot radiators to a cooler setting. Room was much quieter than I had feared it might be.

    No 'on site' parking. Smell of hot oil / frying on the way to my room in the afternoon & to a lesser extent in the morning.

    The room was very large and the beds were very comfortable. Excellent shower, quite a lot of storage space, and brilliant views.

    It didn't seem possible to turn the heated towel rail off in the bathroom so the bathroom got very hot, and the windows were open when we arrived and were very difficult to close, however these were the only negative points.
