    "Overall it was good." (108011642)

    Location of hotel - close to all main tourist areas of London. Facilities in room - shower, tv, a/c. Concierge service was excellent.

    Unknowledgable check in/out staff - couldn't answer some questions, weren't prepared to listen, incorrectly processed my credit card payment, definitely some training issues! Bar closed earlier than expected.

    "Everything upto entering the room was fantastic, unfortunately the room itself was poor, the room price was reasonable, but a hotel as attractive as the Russell is seriously letting itself down, having rooms which are drab, dated and far from attractive available to guests. On top of which, only luke warm water came out of both the bath and shower, something which I wouldn't expect in a two star hotel, let alone a four star. I would recommend avoiding the standard double rooms if they are all to this standard." (107185092)

    quick and easy booking, reasonable price.

    Room not to standard described by advertising material, beautiful hotel, but the room was two star standard at best.

    Great location - near everything I needed from the stay! Very plush reception area and grand staircase.

    Room was very small and the bed was tiny. Partner is 6ft 6 and we struggled but a small bed somewhere between a single and double.

    Efficient, clean and staff incredibly helpful.

    Location was ideal for what I wanted, and had quite a noisy night with the noise from outside and other guests.

    Good location: there are a park and underground station nearby, teapot, tea and coffee in the room

    Air conditioner did not work, room faced into internal yard where ventilation system make considerable noise

    for the money i paid i expected to find a bottle of water in my room. considering this was meant to be a special room, there was nothing special about it the water in the bathroom took an age to warm up "The concierge will get you a taxi sir" Well he might have done if he had been there. i got my own £198 for an average room and no breakfast included. i knew this when i made my reservation, but the booking did not represent value for money

    Rooms were poorly mintained:- 5th floor room poor, rucked up carpets, broken taps, no, hot water through bath tap, stained lampshade,room basic (£175/night!!!) Room 119 upgrade was ok but not great. Inner ring rooms have noisy a/c plant working outside.

    Friendly staff. Clean room with good facilities. Great atmosphere with a sense of historic luxury throughout the hotel.

    Balcony door not locking properly due to broken latch - noise from street below for part of the night.

    All in London.com is an excellent site, easiest to use and cheapest rate I found for this hotel. Hotel Russell staff are wonderful, friendly, cheerful and very very helpful.Breakfast was excellent. Room service very fast and efficient.

    Double glazed windows did not keep out the noise of the traffic or the emergency service sirens.. but it is central London! Restaurant not air conditioned so very hot for breakfast.

    "Creo que es un hotel que está bien comunicado; muy cerca del Museo Británico. En general la estancia fue agradable y el trato del personal adecuado. Si bien la habitación era pequeña estaba limpia. Lo peor en mi opinión fue el desayuno (poco variado, mal presentado y sin duda muy caro para lo que se ofrecía). Cerca del hotel hay bastantes sitios donde desayunar." (2155640)

    El desayuno me parecio bastante mediocre y desde luego muy caro para lo que ofrecía. La habitación era muy pequeña pero estaba limpia y era adecuada.

    Great location. Excellent hotel with great & friendly service. Highly professional and smooth. Impressive building and pleaseant rooms, although small.

    The breakfast was not inluded in the room rate and could be purchased at extra cost. There was a number of good breakfast alternatives in the vincity.

    Very handy for theatres and visiting Gt Ormond St which is why we stayed there.

    front rooms very noisy due to traffic.When I asked for room rates to see what type of rooms where available was told they were not available as the rates change all the time.

    "My overall experience of the Hotel Russell was poor the room was poor was poor and noisy. The facilities were poor and lacking in what one would expect of a 4 star Hotel in the middle of London. A Travel Lodge would provide better accommodation and room facilities. I attempted to buy a vermouth and lemonade from the bar but unfortunately the barman could not speak good english and did not have a clue what I was asking for . Eventually the other barman who spoke more english told me he did not stock it." (99627087)

    Unfortunately there are no positive comments to note about the room

    The room was poorly lit . there was no safe or fridge . The hanging space was inadequate, with only enough room for 1 persons things. I was in room 147 facing inside the hotel towards the air conditioning units which kept me awake all night, there was a continuous dronr it was like being on a ship. the windows had been masked out to hide the view . It was not possible to open one window and the other was wedged closed. Also the facilities provided for the tea and coffee ammounted to 2 cups each.

    The hotel is very conveniently located in the city. The restaurant and the bar provide excellent food.

    There were no parking facilities; the room was tiny, even compared to its bathroom; the bed and bedding were rather inferior quality. There is no gift shop at in the hotel. The staff were inflexible with the check out time, even when I was prepared to pay extra cash for staying a couple hours beyond the normal time.

    A very grand and spacious hotel in a convenient and delightful square

    No response from staff to a reported defective shower and no replacement of water soddened toilet paper.Very poor service in the Bar

    "The room was smaller then expected but with good facilities and was very clean. There was a fridge provided without the usual minibar which proved very useful. The hotel was very close to the tube and also a short walk to Oxford Street.Overall I would recommend the hotel for its location and facilities, although breakfast was expensive and not included in the price."     we went out late on our second day and came back late afternoon and the room had not been cleaned. I requested fresh towels but none were provided as promised.I felt staff could have been more attentive for the price of the hotel

    The location, the appearance of the hotel, the comfort of the room.

    The hotel food was extremely overpriced. The concierge seemed more concerned about saving us money and less about finding out what we actually wanted, and didn't seem to know much about area restaurants.

    Door to balcony was not secured but was rectified by carpenter within minutes of requesting assistance to affect a repair!

    Entrance from the street and reception area had a very nice finish to them. Very nice envirinment with an upmarket feel.

    For the price of the double room I was a little let down by the size. Quite cramped with furniture crammed in.

    The hotel lobby is beautiful and the location was great.

    My first room was filthy and rather unpleasant. The staff, especially the concierge, were unfriendly, unprofessional and rude.

    "All in all, a very enjoyable stay in a lovely hotel. The room was small but fine for my girlfriend and I on our one night stay although any longer and it would have been too small.     The room was clean and modern with everything we needed in it. Staff were very helpful abnd friendly

    There were only 2 problems with out stay, this would be the extortionate prices for drinks in the hotel bar!! And the fact the the water never got hot while we were having a shower, it was only just warm at best

    "The hotel was very well finished and fronted by professional people who smiled, this always impresses us. My wife and I decided to walk up the beautiful marble staircase and I with each step I knew our city break would be a success. My wife and I love to travel on city breaks throughout Europe and North America and a beautiful hotel forms the foundation of any Holiday experience.     Beautiful fasade, lovely marble reception and landing. If my wife likes the hotel we are staying in, then I'm assured the rest of our stay will be happily spent having a great time.

    The lovely room and excellent bathroom were spoiled by the plug mechanism not releasing and we couldn't use the sink more than once.

    Breakfast prohibitively expensive at £19,50 per head!! Excellent Full English in Wine Bar round the corner for £6.50! 2 for 1 offer available......but only if at Breakfast prior to 08.00.

    "I was a bit baffled as to why I had to enter my switch pin code with £50 on top of the actual price. When I asked about this they said it was if I used any extras. I booked to stay overnight and it already said no breakfast included so I couldn't understand what the extras would be! I don't stay in a lot of hotels but I always thought payment was made on check-out, but again I had to enter my pin code, so 3 times in all my pin code was taken which worried m, was I going to be charged 3 times!! The hotel was nice and I would recommend staying. Check-in staff a bit hard to understand as nobody seemed to speak much English." (3305468544)

    "I love this hotel! The location is superb, and in terms of quality and value for money it has no rivals. I stayed in a number of hotels in the Bloomsbury area over the last year as I was doing a course at UCL.     The room was large and nicely decorated. Bed was comfortable. Nice view of the Park and in a good location. Bernard at Concierge was delightful and very helpful.

    No wash cloths. The maid service came rather late in the day - usually after 3PM.

    "The check in process took too long. We paid for breakfast for 2 days, but cancelled because there was a long queue waiting to be seated. There was a young concierge on the first day, who did not seem to know what he was doing.
